3 weeks later...

So. Lets catch up. There is a Valentine's Dance coming up and all the jerks and idiots have come rushing towards you and Charlie. Charlie, Dean, and you have become very good friends, and Dean is always on the lookout to keep the weirdos away from both of you.

It is break period and Dean is walking towards you. "Hey, (Y/N), ummm...are you going?" you asked him where, even though you knew. "...To the dance...you're going, right?"

"Yeah..."

Awkward silence.

"Ummm...do you want to go with me?"

Your face turns beet red and you look down, butterflies in your stomach. He likes me...

"It's ok if you dont wa-" you cut him off

"Of course I want to." that's it. You finally got it over with. You closed your eyes waiting for a "Gotcha!" but it didn't come. You heard him walk over and felt him hug you tight. You opened your eyes and saw him give you a sweet smile.

"See you then."

"Yeah...see you..."

Then absolute silence between both of you.

"What!? He asked you!?" of course this was Charlie's reaction. It always was. We were in French class and she was not paying attention, as always. "Yeah, but keep it down."

This was the routine. She freaked. I tell her to shut up. Easy to remember. She asked me if I said yes. "Why wouldn't I?"

She shrugged. The teacher came over and told us to get back to work.

Three days later I waited until the bell rang.

BRINNNNGGGGG

Finally! It was time to go to the gym. I saw him there, drinking a coke. Right as I walked over the DJ put on one of my favorite songs. "I'm Not In Love" by 10cc. Dean bowed in a joking manner and held out his hand. You giggled and took it as he led you to the middle of the gym. It was really fun. Weirdly enough, they played a lot of songs including stuff like Bubblgum B!tch and Highway to Hell. We had a really good time. He pulled you a little closer to him and he almost filled the gap when all of a sudden, his phone rang. His dad. He walked to the corner and you got a coke while you waited. He came back looking somber.

"I have to go." those words rang in your head like marbles in a jar.

"Why?"

"Personal business. Bye."

"Wait! Will you ever come back?" you weren't sure if it looked like pouting or not, but you felt your face going into a face full of sorrow and lonliness. You dreaded the answer, and he won't sugarcoat it either.

"I don't think I will. I'm sorry, (Y/N)." that broke your heart beyond mending. He was gone. Forever.
