"You really are too nice for your own good," said Flowey, still staring where Undyne had disappeared through the archway to Waterfall.

"Hey, it's worked so far hasn't it?" said Frisk smiling. She felt as light as air. She knew she had done the right thing. Undyne had spared her that one time, and she might be on her way to getting her on her side. Who knew though.

"So what happened to you guys?" asked Frisk.

"What happened to you first," said Flowey.

"Well, when we were teleporting, it felt like there was a presence with us. Someone or something else. Did either of you feel something like that?"

They both nodded and shivered just a tiny bit.

"Anyways, I felt something, like a hand, pulling me away from you. It pulled me away, and I just floated in nothingness for a while. The, the world materialized again and I was in Waterfall someplace. Then Undyne saw me. She fought me, and I was doing okay." Frisk then explained what she had done to try and get away from Undyne.

"I kept running, and I came upon you. You know what happened after that. So tell me your side of the story."

"Well, not much happened, I mean, you were pulled away. We couldn't do anything. Once you let go of Sans's hand, you disappeared. We had no idea where you were or what had happened. We teleported to Hotland, which is where we are now. We were going to go see someone I know. She's a scientist and we thought that she might be able to figure out where you were."

"Well, we should go and see this scientist anyways, I think. I mean, she might be able to tell us how to break the barrier. It's worth a shot anyways."

Sans looked uneasy. So did Flowey for that matter. What was wrong with them?

"I mean, if you want to," said Frisk. "Maybe that's a bad idea. You guys would know better than I would."

"No, Sweetheart. It was a pretty good idea. Alphys is just kinda...antisocial? Not really in a good way either. It's hard to get her out of her shell. She has a bit of a short temper as well. It's a good thing she doesn't hate me. Problem is, she might not feel as kindly about me anymore. The only person she is never mean to is Undyne, and i'm not to popular with her at the moment either. Let's give it a shot anyway I suppose."

"Well, I have a lot of information about her so far, I guess," said Frisk, trying to give more hope to the conversation. "What do you think about that Flowey?"

"Yeah, might as well," he said in a depressed tone. "I just haven't seen her in a while. I don't know how she'll react to me."

"You can ride in my backpack if you want."

"Sure" said Flowey, and Frisk lifted him up and gently put him in the backpack.

"Well, follow me," said Sans.

The trio walked for about ten minutes until they came upon a huge white building with the word LAB written on the side of it in red lettering. Original, thought Frisk, giggling quietly.

When they neared the door, it slid open automatically. Inside was a huge room. There wasn't much to look at. There was a huge screen that showed different parts of the Underground. There was Snowdin, Hotland, Waterfall. There must be cameras everywhere. The only other thing in the room was a desk that was littered with papers and blueprints for things that looked like robots. Frisk wanted to look closer at them but the door to bathroom slid open and out came a yellow monster.

She looked like a dragon or dinosaur. She wasn't very big, about as tall as Frisk, probably a little shorter. She wore a white lab coat that had a red stain on it. Frisk hoped it wasn't what she thought it was. Alphys wore glasses, and behind those, were small, cold eyes. An intensity that Frisk couldn't describe seemed to burn in the center of each.

She jumped slightly when she saw Frisk and Sans standing in her lab.

"W-what are you doing here? Sans? What the heck? WHY would you bring the human here?" She spat out the word human like it tasted horrible in her mouth.

"We needed to ask you something,"Sans said. "We want to know if there was anther way to break the barrier, one that wouldn't take another human SOUL. See, Frisk here wants to get out of here just as much as any of us, and they want to get us out of here. Come on, just give us a chance. Give her a chance."

"Did she tell you that? And you believed her? Honestly Sans, I knew you were lazy, but I didn't think that you were stupid too." She shook her head in disbelief.

Frisk looked over at Sans. He was starting to shake, and his eye was faintly starting to glow. He was getting angry. Frisk started to sweat. More fighting, because of her.

"WHY....does EVERYONE... HAVE TO SAY THAT? Just because I think that I can be a good person, that everyone can be a good person, I'm being called stupid, a traitor, an idiot. By people I thought were my friends. My family. What the HECK!? I'M SICK OF IT! TAKE BACK WHAT YOU SAID," his voice got quiet again, but he didn't look any less angry. "Just because I don't do much, does not mean that I'm lazy, it doesn't mean that I'm weak. You have NO IDEA WHAT I GO THROUGH! SO DON'T THINK THAT YOU DO!" he screamed at Alphys. Frisk looked over at her. Great, she was starting to look angry too.

"Oh, I don't know what you go through? I don't know hardship? Because listen here skeleton, I go through a lot too, so shut your fat mouth. I'm sick of your voice."

Sans growled and summoned bones behind him.

"NO!" Frisk jumped in the middle of them.

"Get out of the way kid," Sans said in a warning tone.

Frisk turned to Alphys. Her eyes were burning. She stepped forward.

"I don't want to hurt you, I don't want to hurt anyone down here. Please, let me help you, I want to do something. It's not in my nature to hurt, only to help." She stepped closer. "Please Alphys, have mercy."

"Oooh, you shouldn't have said that," said Alphys.

"Look out!" cried Flowey from behind her. Alphys grabbed a knife from behind her and swing it at Frisk. It would have sliced right across her chest if it wasn't for Flowey. He jumped out of the backpack and pulled Frisk away from the knife at the last second. Frisk gasped, wide eyed.

Alphys looked at Flowey in surprise, then her expression changed to one of hatred.

"You," she spat. "You failure. You freak. What are you doing here? Of course you're helping this pathetic creature," she said, staring coldly at Frisk. "Quite the friends you've found here human," she laughed coldly. "Now get out of my lab, unless you want me to really try to kill you. Don't even think about coming back here if you want to live, either."

She turned her back on them and went back into the bathroom, which Frisk thought was a little weird, but whatever.

They went out of the door in defeat, but Frisk was still hopeful.

DETERMINATION.
