Trust Issues

Frisk felt a slight tickle on her cheek. She stirred and opened her eyes. Flowey was poking her face with a leaf.

"Let's go Frisk," he whispered. "It's been about 15 minutes, and probably 15 minutes too long. Let's head to safety. Let's go back to Snowdin. We'll find somewhere there to stay."

"Alright," Frisk agreed. Frisk moved up into a crouching position. Then she started running back towards the entrance to Waterfall. As she made into the shelter of the cave, Frisk slowed. They started to walk in a calmly manner.

After a while, the temperature started to cool down. They were getting close to Snowdin.

"Where should we go?" asked Frisk.

"This is going to sound crazy, but let's go to the skeleton's house. Papyrus isn't going to be there. We know that he's off with the king or something right? He's got to be looking for us somewhere else. He would never expect us to go back to his house. Sans is still at Alphys's too, so we're good."

"Surprisingly Flowey, that is actually a good idea. Let's go."

When they came upon the wooden cabin, Frisk slowly walked up and opened the door carefully. She stuck her head in and looked around, searching and listening for any sign of inhabitants. When she found none, she stepped inside.

"Let's just drop any kind of politeness or formality," Frisk told Flowey. "I mean, we basically broke into their house. Let's just do what we want. Right now, I just want to sleep. She dragged her aching feet to the nearest comfortable surface, the couch, and collapsed. She pulled a blanket that was folded on the top of the couch and pulled it over herself. "I just need to rest and heal," She told Flowey, then closed her eyes.

Frisk heard the door rattling. Her eyes flew open and she grabbed the blanket she was lying under and bolted to the nearest hiding place that she could find. Her heart pounding, she crouched behind the couch, making herself as small as she possibly could. Her heart was racing, and she covered her mouth with her hand to try and quiet her heavy breathing. Papyrus must be home.

Without moving, she looked up to the opening door. She had no idea where Flowey was. She hoped that he had heard the door open and had found somewhere to hide. As she looked up at the door, she saw herself looking up at her former friend, Sans. Frisk let out a small gasp, cringing, she hoped that the skeleton hadn't heard her. He would not be happy to see a person had broken into his house. A human, no less. That's what he had seemed to think of her in the lab. What was he doing though? Shouldn't he still be back there with Alphys? Or had he been sent to look for them?

"Frisk!" She heard her name being called. "Wake up!" It was Flowey. He rose up out of the floor boards in the middle of the room. When he saw a glaring skeleton looking down on him instead of Frisk, he let out a small squeak and tried to disappear into the floor again.

Before he could disappear, Sans lunged and grabbed him by the stem and pulled him out of the ground, holding him at eye level.

"Did you say Frisk?" he growled. "Is she here too? And what are you doing in my freaking house?"

Flowey shivered but looked back at Sans defiantly. "I don't have to tell you anything, not after you betrayed us. I don't even have to stay here and listen to you."

Frisk saw Flowey look around the room as if to see where Frisk had gone. Frisk stuck one of her fingers out from the side of the couch to show him where she was. He saw it and got the message, so Frisk pulled her finger back again before Sans could see it.

Flowey then summoned some of his bullets and hit Sans right in the face. Sans dropped Flowey and he burrowed under the ground just as he hit the floor. He tunneled to where you were hiding.

"I've never tried this before," he whispered quickly. "But we need to get out of here. Trust me, let's see if this works." Frisk's stomach turned. She hoped Flowey had a good idea at what he wanted to do.

Quick as lighting, Flowey wound around Frisk, completely covering her in vines. Then he started to shrink into the floor. Frisk realized he was trying to burrow under the ground with her along with him. She squeezed her eyes tight as the space behind San's couch disappeared.

The world spun for a few seconds until the world spun back into place again. They were still right next to San's house, but behind a tree. They could see through a window Sans looking around his house. He looked behind the couch and saw the blanket Frisk had pulled behind it.

Frisk looked down at Flowey. He let go of her and shrank back to his normal size. He was breathing heavily, it had obviously worn him out.

"Flowey, you're amazing!" cried Frisk and pulled him into a hug.

"Not that it matters," said a voice behind them.

Frisk turned and saw Sans, looking down at them. Frisk held Flowey protectively. It was her turn to protect them now. They weren't going back to the lab, no matter what.

"Don't you know it's rude to break into people's houses?" asked Sans. Frisk just glared at him silently. She didn't even want to be talking to him.

"Look Sweetheart, I didn't want to so anything Alphys made me do back there. Believe me. You guys are both my friends, and I would never hurt either of you willingly."

Frisk rolled her eyes and Flowey muttered, "Yeah right."

"Why are you here now then?" asked Frisk. "If she was threatening you or something, you would still be with her. Did she send you to come get us or something?"

"No. After you escaped, Alphys left her lab. I don't know where she went. She just left while I was doing something," he looked away when he said that. "When I got back she was gone and the thing she was threatening me with was gone too. I went back to my house to rest before I was going to go looking for you two. I wanted to keep helping you, and to get what's mine from Alphys."

Flowey remained silent and stony through San's story. Frisk could tell that he was going to let her make the call on whether to trust him or not.

Frisk thought about his story. "If that's true, tell me what she said to you to make you help her. What she took from you."

Sans looked down. "It's not important is it?" he asked.

"If you can't tell me, I don't think I can tell you that I believe you." Frisk snapped.

"Just let me go with you to Asgore. I'll make it up to you on the way."

"Whatever," muttered Frisk. Her trust in him was totally broken, but she thought it might be a good idea to keep him around anyways.

"Thanks Sweetheart," said Sans, and smiled. Frisk didn't return the smile. She just turned her back on him, and with Flowey in her arms, they walked back into San's house, not waiting to be invited in.
