It was obvious your neighbor, Vern Tessio, liked you. He had a bit of a trouble trying to hide it.
"H-hey Y/N!" Vern shouted from underneath his porch when he saw you come out your house. You made your way towards Vern and waved.
He crawled out of the opening and stood up. He wiped his dirt-covered hands onto his pants, causing them to become dirty too.
"Aw man," he groaned and began to blush furiously.
You giggled,"Still looking for your pennies?"
"Yeah," he sighed. "I wish I had some pez right now."
"Oh, I was just on my way to the store. Wanna join me?" You asked. He nodded excitedly.
The two of you headed for the nearby grocery store. You sensed Vern glancing over at you every five seconds.
It was a hot day in Castle Rock, so once you reached the conditioned store, you both sighed in relief. Both of you scanned the store for pez and eventually came across one package left.
You two reached to get it and accidentally touched hands.
Vern pulled away quickly,"I-I, uh, sorry."
"It's okay, Vern." You smiled and handed him the cherry-flavored pez. He grinned and you paid for both of your items.
"I'll pay you back once I find my pennies. Sincerely!" Vern promised you once you reached his house.
"It's okay, Vern." You assured him.
"Alright, see you tomorrow?" Vern asked hopefully.
You nodded and pressed your lips to his red cheek. He giggled and waved goodbye as you entered your house.
