Today was an ordinary day. But it was the soon-to-be Alpha's birthday which means he'll find his mate.

Whoop-de-do! Note the sarcasm.

I was walking down the hallway when Miranda and Jessica walked up to me.

"Wow, your such a loser, you'll never find your mate or he'll reject you. You're pathetic. You're a disappointment, I don't know how you're related to Jackson." Jessica smirked at me like she affected my feelings.

"I really dont care." I turned around and walked away, leaving them to stand in the halls alone.

When I was out of their sight I started to run to the front, but a muscular chest sent me crashing to the floor.

I had a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach, forcing myself not to look up.

There was a small voice in my head whispering softly to me.

Mate.

Mine.

Ours.

I closed my eyes and let my hair block my face.

I whispered a simple word. "Mate," I got up and picked up my things and I slowly brought my eyes up to him.

Then I noticed they belong to Zander.

He had this dazed look on his face. He looked down at me; searching my face.

I brought my hand up and I guess my actions made him snap out of his fantasy because the next thing I know I'm up against a locker, his hands, both on my shoulders.

I felt his nails elongate, piercing through my shirt and then my skin, making me let out a small whimper of pain.

"You're not my mate, Jessica is, so stop lying." he growled.

I starred at him wide," What.. What do you mean?" I whispered looking at the ground helplessly, holding back the tears threatening to spill out.

"I'm rejecting you. You should have known, I've been dating her since Junior High!' He sneered.

"But I am your mate. Why are you rejecting me? You're suppose to love me."

By then a crowd has formed around us. Watching this scene fold out before their very own eyes. My very own humiliation.

"Because you're not my mate. And the feeling is definitely not mutual." He pushed me harder into the lockers, making me flinch under his steel hold, his piercing eyes looking deep into my own.

Before I could respond, my brother, Jackson, came and ripped me out of his hold by my arm and dragged me outside to his car, shoving me inside, and slamming the door. He walked around the car and got in, put the key in the ignition, and speed off.

It was quiet the first few minutes. But I decided to speak up.

"Jac..."

"What is your problem!" He lodged in before I could finish his name.

"He is my mate Jackson. Please believe me." I begged him in whispers.

"I don't! Because I know you've been having this creepy, obsessive, crush on him for a long time. Now since he is able to find his mate, you announce you're his mate! That's pathetic and low, and I would not have expected this from you.

Maybe Miranda and her friends. How are we even blood related. I can't stand looking at you right now."He said the ending softly and crinkled his nose in disgust.

The rest of the ride home, I looked out the window, watching the trees pass by in a blur of green. I would take sly side glances towards Jackson, his face was passive.
