Charlie's POV

"Hey Nash." I say when I walk inside.

"How was surfing?" He asks.

"Fine I guess." I shrug.

"How's Matt?" He asks.

"Okay I guess." I say walking into the kitchen.

"Is he still being a jerk to you?" Nash asks following me.

"Why do you care?" I ask grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Just asking, trying to be a good brother." He shrugs.

"So by being a good brother you told Matt to stay away from me?" I ask.

"What are you talking about?" He chuckles playing dumb.

"Matt told me. You know when you asked him if he liked me and he said yes. Apparently you told him to keep a distance from me?" I ask.

"Okay listen-"

"So it's true?" I ask.

"You said you don't like him anyways so why does it matter?" Nash asks.

"Because maybe now I do like him.." I trail off.

"You can't be serious." He says.

"Why?" I ask.

"Char, you can't like my best friend." He says.

"What's the big deal if I did?" I ask.

"It's like sibling code. Brothers don't date sisters friends, and sisters don't date brothers friends." He says.

"You just a made that up." I say rolling my eyes.

"It's true. Could you imagine if I dated Shawn's sister? I can't do that. I can't because of bro code and she couldn't because of sibling code." He explains.

"Well good thing you never have to worry about that because she's fourteen and that's gross." I say.

"I know but- do you get my point?" He asks.

"Yes Nash, I understand your point." I say.

"Good so you'll stay away from Matt?" He asks.

"We can't even be friends?" I ask.

"You guys can be friends. Just don't hang out too much, don't get too attached-"

"Okay but let's just talk theoretically here. What if Matt and I went on a date?" I ask.

"I'd probably never talk to either of you ever again." He says calmly.

"What if we started dating?" I ask.

"Charlotte, stay away from my friends. Okay?" He asks.

"I thought you said they were good guys. Wouldn't you want be to date one of your friends?" I ask.

"No, I don't want you dating one of my friends." He says.

"So you'd rather have me date one of Hayes' asshole friends?" I question.

"I didn't say that. You can date whoever you want as long as they're not an asshole like Hayes and they aren't one of my friends." He says.

"Okay." I say.

"Good." He says.

"Please just don't tell Matt I talked to you about this." I say.

"Why?" He asks.

"Because he didn't want me to say anything about this to you." I say.

"Why didn't he want you to tell me you guys liked each other?" He asks.
