He doesn't know how to make me smile, he doesn't know how to make me laugh, and he doesn't know how to make me happy, so why do I keep coming back? I look across at Connor, who's just sitting there looking on his phone. "So how was your day?" I ask him to get him to concentrate on me. He doesn't even glance up at me when he replies, "Great babe, you?" I roll my eyes at him and take a sip of my coffee. I don't even answer him, not that he'd notice. I don't remember when it got this bad between us, we used to be so happy together and now I feel like we know nothing about one another. To my surprise he does put his phone down and looks up at me. "You asked me first, are you not going to reply?" he asks me with irritation clearly in his voice. I place my coffee back on the table and sit straight up, getting ready to lay everything on him."I have something to tell you, it's not about my day, but instead it's about us. Our relationship and how there's not a relationship there anymore. This right here is me breaking up with you Connor. I hope you still have a great day babe," I tell him while getting up and grabbing my coffee. "Vera, can't we talk about this?" he asks while grabbing my hand as I try to walk towards the door. "What would you like to talk about? How you don't even care about me? How you never tell me that you love me anymore? It feels like you don't. Or how about the fact that you never try to do anything for me to make me feel special? To make me feel like I'm your girlfriend. Connor you aren't in this relationship. I'm the only one trying and I can't bare the weight for the both of us anymore. I have to walk away," I tell him trying not to cry. I wanted to be strong, I needed to be strong, because just because he wasn't the same person I fell in love with doesn't mean there isn't any love there. He lets go of my hand and I take this opportunity to make my leave. I don't look back, I can only move forward or else I'll give in and not want to leave him.
In my dorm room, I collapse onto my bed and let the tears fall down. I don't even try to stop the feeling of sadness that's coming, I let myself cry until I fall asleep. I'm awakened by my roommate and she's there holding me in her arms. "You finally did it didn't you?" she asks. Luckily for me she's my best friend and I don't need to even explain why I'm like this. She was there with everything from high school and through the problems within college. I nod and she just continues to stroke my hair. "It's going to be ok. You don't deserve someone like him Vera, you deserve someone better," she whispers to me. I continue to cry, even when I hear someone at the door banging. Geisel gets up and answers it while I remain under my covers. "Let me in Geisel. I know she's in there," I hear Connor's voice say with anger. I flinch at his voice and pray that he doesn't come in. "No she's not," Geisel tells him sternly. He sighs and tells her, "You always lie for her, there's tears on your shirt stupid." Then he pushes his way into the room, being stronger than Geisel, who's holding the door back. He's on his knees in front of me in seconds.
"You were wrong Vera and I'm sorry for not speaking up for our relationship at the café. I love you, I've never stopped loving you and I'm sorry for not showing you that I loved you. I'm so sorry that it took me until now to realize I was taking you for granted. Please don't do this," Connor tells me now with no trace of anger. He wipes away the tears on my face and I flinch with his touch. He frowns at my action and drops his hand. "Please leave," I barely get out. Connor is on his feet again and looks down at me while saying, "I've said what I came to say, so if I walk out of here we're done forever." So many thoughts are going through my head and I want to speak up, but then the fire alarm goes off. I scream from it startling me. I get off my bed quickly and Connor takes me in his embrace. "Come on Vera, I got you. I always will," he tells me while placing a soft kiss on my forehead. We hold hands while going down the stairs and Geisel has this look of disgust the whole time at Connor.
Since I look like a hot mess and people actually know who I am, I find myself hiding in Connor's arms to shield from the people looking at me. "Does this mean you forgive me? I'll make it up to you Vera I promise," Connor asks. I look up at him and can't help but feel safe in his arms. I give him a kiss and he leans into it making it last longer. I pull away and say, "I forgive you. I love you Conn." He smiles his famous smile that can melt my heart and tells me while looking into my eyes, "I love you so much Vera." Someone behind Connor says, "Hey Connor when are we going to have some fun again? I hear you and that pathetic girlfriend of yours finally broke up, everyone's talking about what happened at the café. So now we can hook up more since you're single." The words hit me like a tsunami, Connor has been cheating on me.
I take his arms off of me and step back while anger fills me. "Oh Vera I didn't see you," the slut says. I roll my eyes and look at Connor then at her while saying, "I guess you're right, I am pathetic. Since I took Connor back, when this whole time he's been messing around with a slut like you." Connor looks at this girl with a look that could kill her. Once she realizes his expression her face turns into anxiety. "If you don't get the fuck out of here right now Amber I will destroy you I swear. You are the pathetic one thinking I would ever go back to you anyway," he tells her with aggression. But when he turns towards me his expression softens and turns into sadness. "Vera I promised to start over with you, please don't let her get to you. I promise there won't be anyone else. Vera I love you, I do, it will only be you that I love," he pleads to me. I shake my head no and find my courage while saying, "No Connor. I don't believe you and I've now realized I don't need someone like you in my life, you are a selfish dickhead and only brings me down. So why don't you fucking leave me alone. Bye bitch." His mouth drops open and goes to say something, but I point for him to leave now. I now realize that everyone is watching us and I begin to feel uneasy, I don't exactly like to give everyone something to gossip about, since I'm the star soccer player and he's the famous football quarterback. "We can go back in now," Geisel tells me. I look over at her and give her a thankful smile.

This chapter is a bit shorter than what others will be, but thank you for reading my NEW story!
I'd like to point out that this story isn't a fanfiction, like my other story This Summer (if you read it), but rather he doesn't know is something that I've been planning and trying to write since about halfway through This Summer. With that note I do have half the story written, but I'll still be updating every Sunday/Monday. Thank you for reading the first chapter and I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of my new story! Comment below on your thoughts, I love to hear what everyone thinks about the story.
Well until next week :)
