"Good morning love birds," I wake up to the sound of Geisel. "Ugh shut up. Don't call us that," I grumble. "Sorry couldn't hear you," she says with a laugh. I open my eyes and find a very happy Fallon. "Good morning beautiful," I blush and hide my face in his chest. He laughs and to my surprise I find myself enjoying the sound with the way it sounds me up against him. He puts his hand underneath my chin and lifts it up to look directly in his eyes. "How are you from yesterday?" he asks with no humor in his voice anymore. I don't know what to say so I continue to look in his eyes. "Well I'm going to go grab breakfast with Dylan so catch you later Vera," I hear Geisel tell me, but I never look away from Fallon. Once the door closes behind her, Fallon sits up and brings me with him. I'm now sitting half in his lap and half on the bed.
"I actually slept well," he comments with a laugh at the end. I'm thankful that he doesn't bring up his question again. I smile at him and poke his cheek playfully while saying, "Oh I bet you tell that to all the girls." Fallon keeps my gaze and grabs my hand to intertwine our fingers. "Except I've never let a girl sleep next to me. I always kick them out after the deed is done," he tells me like it's no big deal. I gasp and shove him slightly while mocking, "When the deed is done. Fallon! You make those girls seem like an object. How many girls have you slept with?" He looks away from me finally and says, "Too many to where it gets boring, like it's just another thing that I do regularly." I frown. I find myself bothered by this for some reason. I glance back over at him and see he's looking at me again. He brings his hand up to my lips and straightens out my frown. "Don't ever frown because of me," he tells me softly.
A small smile automatically makes its way on my face and he adds, "Because I love to see your smile and it pains me to think I could ever make you frown or cry." I can hear my heart start to race. Next thing I know Fallon is leaning closer to me and his lips are an inch from mine. I jump off the bed and fall on my butt. "Vera are you ok? I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that," Fallon says while running his fingers through his blonde hair. "No, Fallon you shouldn't have done that! I can't jump into something else. Now I find myself wanting to hear you laugh and whenever you hold me close my heart is racing. I don't want this! I don't want this with someone like you!" I yell at him. I put my hands over my mouth once I realize I've just told him about how he's making me feel.
There's mixed emotions on his face and silence follows until he finally tells me, "First of all, those are good emotions to have. I'm 100% positive that Connor hasn't made you feel that way in over a year. Second I need to address you calling me a horrible person because I sleep around? Is that what you meant by someone like me? Vera I would never hurt you. I'm a good person and you know that. So I have a reputation with girls, but that doesn't mean I'm not capable of being with one person. To tell you the truth I fell for a girl, but to my despair she fell for my best friend. Vera I won't let you stand there making accusations about me." I flinch on how angry he's getting and the regret I'm feeling, because he's right. Why should I judge him? He's always been there for me. I can feel tears start to form at my eyes. "Vera..." he says softly. I look up at Fallon and find his anger now gone.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have gotten that angry, please don't cry. It's just I didn't think you were like all the other girls. You see me the same way as them," he continues with. I go to wipe my tears away, but he beats me to it. He keeps his hands on my face while I tell him, "No I should be the one that's sorry. Fallon believe me when I say I'm sorry and you're right. You aren't that person and I don't see you as a horrible guy. I promise. I'm sorry." His lips are on mine within seconds. I'm taken by surprise, but in seconds I'm matching his lips and kissing back. He drops his hands and pulls away. "I'm glad to hear that princess. Remember this moment and how I made you feel, until I see you next. I unfortunately have to go, because I have morning football practice," he tells me while going for his shoes. "Fallon I don't know about this," I say while pointing between us. He looks me in the eyes once he goes to leave and asks, "So you don't want a kiss goodbye?" He smirks at me and I roll my eyes at him, there's the Fallon I know. "Nope," I stand my ground. However, all of a sudden he grabs me and smashes his lips against mine and I can't help but lean in a little. "Well I did. Bye Vera," he tells me after he separates from me and walks out the door. I can't stop smiling after he leaves. What have I gotten myself into?
"You kissed Fallon!" Geisel yells. I cover her mouth while asking, "Could you be louder?" She laughs and mumbles something under my hand. I drop it and let her say whatever she was saying, "I'm so excited though. I've always thought Fallon was better than Connor. Besides blondes are better than brunettes. I mean Connor has the dimples and all, but Fallon has those dreamy blue eyes. Connor's eyes I guess are ok, I mean if you like the whole golden eyes thing." I laugh and tell her, "Wow I loved Connor's eyes." She places her hand on mine and says, "Sweet heart that may be, but you just said loved as in past tense, because you know that you have Fallon now. He could beat Connor up any day and Connor knows that too. So at least you don't have to worry about Connor bothering you." I roll my eyes and tell her, "Fallon and I aren't a thing. Stop saying that. He's not mine." Geisel goes stiff across from me and is locked eyes with something behind me. I turn around to see Connor.
He doesn't look happy. "I came over here to give you the tickets to the concert. I bought them for the both of us to go, but I know you are more excited to see them. So I thought you'd like to go and I don't want to ruin it for you," he tells me but I can tell he's trying not to get angry and raise his voice. "How much of it did you hear?" I ask him straight out, because clearly he heard something. "I heard all of it. You kissed Fallon. Geisel has never known what an inside voice is. So that is why I'm taking it back, I'm taking these tickets and I'll take another girl," he tells me with irritation. "Connor! You can't, how will I ever find more tickets? They will all be sold out!" I yell while getting up to face him. His lip twitches and tells me through his teeth, "Maybe next time you and Fallon will decide not to mess around. Fallon showed up wearing the same clothes as the day before, did you let him stick it inside of you too! Huh Vera? God you're a slut!" I start to feel water fall down my face and tell him, "Connor you're a monster! I didn't have sex with him!"
Connor is clearly taken back by my words from the confusion that crosses his face. "Vera you still kissed him though!" he yells back. He sits down next to the chair I was sitting in and puts his hand on his temple. "Connor, why don't we go together?" I ask while sitting back down. He looks up at me and doesn't say anything. "Deal," he finally says. Then he gets up and leaves, but places one ticket on the table before walking away.
I'm walking to my class on Monday when someone puts their arm around my shoulders. I go to step away, until I see Fallon's blonde hair. "How was your weekend? I'm sorry I couldn't see you after Saturday morning," he asks. I cheaply smile at him and question whether I should tell him about my encounter with Connor on Sunday. "Oh it was ok," I reply. He stops walking and I look up at him. "I know you talked to Connor," he admits, but there's no anger. He brushes his hair away from his right eye displaying a black eye. "Fallon!" I yell while placing my hands on his face. "Did Connor do this?" I ask. He smiles and puts his hands on top of mine while keeping them on his face, then takes them off and kisses them. "I love that you care, but don't worry about me, ok? Yeah it was Connor, but I let him do it. I get it. I would be pissed too, to find out the girl you love is kissing you're best friend. So it's ok. That's not why I brought it up though, I brought it up because he threw in my face that you wanted to go to the concert with him next week," he tells me.
I take my hands out of his with anger while asking, "That's what he said? Did he forget to mention he threatened to not let me go and he'll take another girl along?" Fallon smiles and kisses me. He releases and leans his forehead against mine while telling me, "No he didn't mention that. I knew there was something else. Vera, be my girlfriend? You clearly needed to clarify for me that you didn't want to go with him. So what do you say?" I step back and I can't look him in the eyes while saying, "I can't. I told you I'm not going to jump into anything. I'm sorry Fallon. If you want to be with me, then wait until I'm ready. I just got to be single and I don't want to worry about a boyfriend." I look up and there's no emotion on his face. "So you can mess with other guys? Kiss them, let them do other things to you? I'm not going to be your side dog, someone that you know will be here no matter and you can come back to. I'm not a guy that does relationships for this reason right here. Thanks for reminding me Vera," he voices with anger. I stand my ground and say, "Fuck you Fallon! I told you I didn't want to be in a relationship before you kissed me the first time!" I walk away and go to class. Leaving Fallon behind, because it turns out he doesn't know what I'm feeling.
