The morning sun hits me and I feel peaceful by letting the fight with Geisel slip my mind right now. Then I feel something hit my shoulder. I look down and yell; bird poop. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I ask out loud. Luckily I'm not going to class, but instead to the library to get in studying. I hurry there and go straight to the restroom. There's a girl already in there doing her makeup. I don't really look at her and try to get the poop off of my shirt. "Oh I've had that happen before. You use laundry detergent to get it out, because regular soap doesn't work," the girl next to me comments. "Well shit, thank you. I guess I'll have to go back to my dorm and change," I tell her then turn towards her. I drop the paper towel I was holding and try not to yell. It's the girl from last night, the one Fallon was sucking face with. She smiles at me and I return a small one, not to seem rude, but as of right now I don't want anything to do with her. "Well I hope it comes out," she tells me while leaving the restroom. I nod, but don't say anything. I slowly go to look out the door and frown when I see Fallon leaning up against a wall. The girl walks up to him and wraps her arms around his neck. I look away not wanting to see them kiss.
I start to walk in a hurry to exit the library. I'm looking down trying not to let him notice me, but unfortunately I bump into someone. "I'm sorry," I say. Looking I see I had made the guy drop all his stuff. "Watch where you're going!" he yells. I look in the way Fallon was and catch eye contact, which makes him start to walk my way. I go to walk away, but the guy I ran into seems really mad now, "You made me spill my coffee all over my shit and you're just going to leave?" I quickly reach in my wallet and give him some money, "Here I'm really sorry but I have to leave." Then I get the hell out of there, but it's too late. Fallon's standing in front of me by the time I look back. "I told you to leave me alone," I tell him with anger while trying to go around him. "Really? You're going to blow me off after I tell you I love you," Fallon asks. I look him directly in the eyes and point towards the girl he's here with while saying, "You have a really messed up way of showing it. Besides I'm back with Connor. Last night was fun after the concert." He tenses up and glares at me. "Please tell me you didn't have sex with Connor?" he asks me. I know it's wrong to lie to him, but I can't believe Fallon will return back to her after last night. I smile at him and reply, "What I do is up to me." That's when he snaps. "UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE VERA!" he yells at me. I keep my ground and tell him, "I meant it when I said I don't want you in my life. I'm sure Connor feels the same." Then I walk away.
I'm sitting in a quiet place under a tree, when someone sits down next to me. I don't look up, because I'll most likely lose my place in my reading. "So I heard we're a couple again and you lost your virginity to me. Now it came from a very angry Fallon, so I of course put on my douche smirk and agreed to it all. But wow am I surprised to find this all out," the guy says out loud. I laugh and turn to see Connor. "Yeah sorry I was really mad at him, so I sort of implied we had sex. He's the one that suggested it," I tell Connor while leaning my head on his shoulder and look back at my book. "Well sweetheart I'd love to be your boyfriend again, but I'll do it right and ask you on a date first. So Vera Thompson, will you do me the honor to go on a date?" Connor asks. I stop reading and sit up straight. There's so many thoughts going through my head. A date with Connor? I gulp and turn away from him. "One date Vera, then you can decide if you want me in your life," he continues with. I finally look back at him and he has worry on his face, probably considering the thought that I'll deny him. "Sure Connor. One date," I finally reply. The biggest smile comes on his face, revealing his two dimples. Damn they get me every time. I lean my head against him again and he wraps his arm around me. We sit here in quiet while I read for a while. Maybe Connor does know.
"Every time I think I've gotten ahead, the professor throws something new out and I'm lost again," I hear my friend Olivia tell me. I nod along, but I'm super nervous about my date tonight. "Did you hear what I said Vera?" she asks me. I look at her and reply, "Yeah I did and I totally feel the same way." She raises her eyebrows at me and asks, "Mhmm what's on your mind?" I laugh and ask, "Does there have to be something on my mind?" She keeps the same expression and answers, "With you, there's always something going on." I smile at her and say, "You know my life too well, but yes there is something on my mind. Connor's taking me out tonight." She screams and I drop the drink I was holding. "What did you do that for?" I ask. She looks at me and asks, "Are you sick? Do you have the flu? Did you bump your head?" I give her a death stare and reply, "Are you serious? You screamed so loud that everyone now is looking at us and made my drink fall over the table, because you think I'm sick for going out with Connor. Unbelievable Liv." She laughs and tells me, "I'm sorry. It's just that's really stupid." I roll my eyes and say sarcastically, "Get in line." We both start to begin to laugh uncontrollably. "Will you two shut the fuck up? This is a library," the person next to us asks. I bow my head and cover my mouth to hide the laughter. "Right I'm so sorry sir," Liv tells him. "Come on Vera. We should probably leave now," she tells me with a small laugh.
We go on the elevator and there's already a guy on, so we just stand next to him. "Oh it's you," I hear the guy say. I look at him and don't recognize his face so I ask, "Excuse me?" He laughs in a rude manner and replies, "Of course you don't even remember spilling my coffee all over my crap." Then it clicks, yesterday the guy I ran into. "Oh I'm really sorry about that," I sincerely apologize. He thinks something over and says, "You're in my psych class, I've seen you. Give me your number. That way we can meet up and exchange notes, considering you've ruined mine." He pulls out it his phone and gives it to me, then I hand it back. "Bye Vera," he tells me with a smile and leaves the elevator. "What just happened? That guy just worked his magic and got your number," Liv comments. I think it over and holy shit he did. "I'm sure it's not like that," I say. She laughs and comments, "I know you don't think that. Tons of guys have flirted with you before." I smirk at the thought of what just happened. "Well look at me. Getting all the guys," I joke with a laugh.
"Close your eyes and don't peek," Connor whispers while grabbing my hand to lead me somewhere. "Connor I swear if I trip I'll punch you," I tell him while holding onto his hand for dear life. He laughs and says, "Aw the sweet Vera I know." I smile and can feel my cheeks start to blush. We stop and he softly tells me, "Okay open your eyes." I slowly open them and gasp at the scene around me. "Connor how did you do this?" I ask. He smirks at me and replies, "The quarterback can be very persuasive." I roll my eyes at him and go up to give him a quick kiss. "Oh dessert came early," he quickly comments. I laugh and go up to the picnic. There's flower pedals all around the picnic blanket and all my favorite foods spread across. "I see you remember stuff I tell you," I voice while sitting down. He laughs and says, "I always have. I'm just sorry I didn't show you." He sits down next to me and makes my plate for me. "So Mr. Quarterback, you're really trying this time?" I ask him. He hands me my plate of food and responds, "I'm really trying this time Vera, because I don't want to ever lose you again." I blush and bite my lip. "You're so beautiful," he continues with. I smile at him and can feel happiness in this moment of time.
"Do you remember when you tried to cook us dinner for our 2 year anniversary?" I ask him. "You didn't cook this did you?" I tease. He laughs at the memory and replies, "Oh yes I remember. We got sick the next day from something I prepared, but don't worry I didn't prepare the food. Hey, though I feel insulted that you don't believe I haven't gotten any better at cooking." I lightly push him and joke, "Did I hurt your big boy feelings?" He pulls me to him and begins to tickle me. "No! Connor don't start!" I yell between laughs. "I'm sorry I can't hear you," he begins to say but stops tickling me. I'm lying on the floor and he's hovering over me. "I love you," he tells me with sincerity. I can see it in his eyes, the way he used to look at me when we first fell for each other. "And I love you," I say back.
His lips are on mine transfering so much passion that I could stay here forever. "Vera will you give me another chance to show that our love is worth fighting for? Will you be my girlfriend?" he asks me once we finally separate. I look over to him and can feel my heart start to beat faster. Fallon flashes in my mind and I look away. "You have to promise me that I'll be the only one. No one else Connor. If I hear or see anything, I will leave you and cut your balls off for fooling me again," I tell him. He smiles and asks, "Is that a yes? Because I promise, I promise Vera it'll only be you. It'll always be just you." I nod and reply, "It's a yes." He doesn't know how long I've wanted him to say those words again.
