Jenny's room in the above picture
**Kevin's POV**
I reached home and saw my mom sitting on the couch with her files and laptop. Seeing me entering she got up and reached me.
"Who's she?" she got excieted as I spoke to her about the best friend thing.
"Her name is Jenny and she is kind of a sweet and understanding girl."
"Boy! You're in love." she clapped her hands.
"Yes but not with her."
"Then who?"
"Doesn't matter! I'll tell you when the right time comes. Anyways I will be out for the night and..." before I could finish my speech, mom popped up.
"Where are you going?"
"Jenny got a terrible twist in her leg so her mom requested me to stay for the night and I agreed. So I'll be gone for the night. Don't worry I'll keep my phone on and whenever you need me I'll be there. So just chill!" Finally she took a deep breath accepting my words and turned towards the front drawer. She took out some keys and hande it over to me.
"Here take this! I'm proud that my baby boy grew up to be helpful to girls." she said as she pulled me into a hug.
"Thanks mom but I don't need.." and she cut me off.
"Keep it. Now that you have a best friend, you gotta give her a lift by being faithful to her."
"Thankyou so much mom!" I hugged her and went in my room to grab my things. I pulled out my other bag and packed it with a toothbrush and paste and stuffed some clothes for tomorrow. I grab my deodrant and zipped my bag. I also packed my school bag for tomorrow. I went out with a pair of bag and drive off to Jenny's residence. I parked outside and grabbed my bag as I got out.
"Hello Mrs. Johnson. How's Jenny now?" I smiled as I entered the house.
"Come in dear. The doctor just came and said it was just a cramp. She will be walking freely tomorrow!" she chuckled and lead me to Jenny's room.
"Hey Jenny! All good?"
"Yeah pretty good. Just wondering about the bus ride tomorrow."
"No need! I got my car."
"You have one? Oh Yaa! how can I forget! 'The millionaire's son'."
"Hey that's not fair! Anyways have this soup that your mom handed to me." I sat down beside her bed.
And she drank as I fed her spoon by spoon. Later we passed time playing games on her PSP. Although boring princess games but still we designed them as bloody vampires and played it.
"So tell me about you best friends who wander around you like bees?" she asked while struggling to win.
"They're Mike and Ben. And to be honest we call ourselves The three musketeers" she chuckled as I said. The game was over or she switched off the PSP I don't remember but when I glanced at her she looked away out the window.
"What about you? Friends? Family?" I asked. I was really curious because I had a best friend who was unknown to me.
"Friends, a few but true friends, none!" she began with a small sad smile. "Best friends, only you in my entire life and family... single parent. Dad ran away to earn money and get rid of us!" she spoke taking a deep breath.
"It's okay! Everyone has bad times in life. Everyone has a problem to face." I assured her.
"But not you!" she confused me.
"Huh!"
"Just look at you, I mean before this crush, you were like a sweet, innocent guy doing great in academics, having a perfect body, a crush of many girls, living a life of luxury, getting satisfied with what you have, and not bothering with what others say unless you feel something for them."
What was all this? I actually never figured out this much about myself. And also *crush of many girls*, *perfect body*...
"Jenny, what are you talking about?"
"And that's what bothers us, a lot." she turned towards me holding my 'question-mark-face' in her soft hands.
"You know what when you walk down the corridor every girl gets flattered. When you roll your eyes just to find your looser friends during lunch, those girls act like crazy freaks when your eyes meet theirs without your own realisation. You have more fans than Darwin or another guy." she spoke with my face still in her hands.
"I thought girls like bad boys!"
"This happens only in stories not in real life. Do have any idea how much it kills us when you don't even look at us?" she said as soon as she let go my face off her hands and her mother enters her room.
"The dinner is ready. I'll arrange the plates as soon as you guys are ready for it!" she was very sweet. I liked her.
"Yaa we'll be there in a while." and her mom left her room. "Now help me get up from this comfy!"
I held her hands and she pulled out her injured leg which was covered with a blue bandage.
"Will you be able to walk?"
"I can but still need a support! Not independently!"
"I never said about leaving."
"I never mentioned you as a support!"
And we laughed like idiots. We reached her dining table and set her on one of the chairs. I sat on the one beside her. Delicious noodles were served with hot n' spicy manchurian balls with curry.
"I love Chinese! And this is delicious Mrs. Johnson. Thankyou for calling me over."
"It's fine. Just have it to the fullest." I returned a smile.
After our dinner her mom helped her towards her room while I called back mom as she left a missed call on mine.
"Hey mom! You called?"
"Yeah just to make sure that my darling had food or not!"
"Obviously! And I just loved the Chinese she cooked."
"Well its great that you enjoyed! Anyways I called you to tell to that dad is coming tomorrow so better if you don't plan anything!"
"No its nothing. It's just tonight and tomorrow till the school ends nothing else after that. I'll head straight to home as I drop Jenny here."
"Great then see you tomorrow! Good night!"
"Yea good night to you too!"
As hung up I turned to see Mrs. Johnson standing in the hallway.
"I'm glad that she finally got a friend on who she can trust. Just promise me that you'll never leave her in bad times." and a tear rolled down her cheek.
I rushed to catch it and held her hands. "I promise I will never let anything happen her!" she smiled and cleared my way towards her room.
