Grace Hope's POV:
I wake up and find my sister Faith downstairs with Mom eating breakfast. Our father died a few years ago. He was illegally trading and was shot by peacekeepers.
"Morning Gracie, hurry up and eat so you can get ready," said my mother. She acted happy, but I could hear the worry in her voice. If we got reaped and died, she'd have nothing. We're all she has left.
Faith and I quickly ate and got ready. I wore a purple dress with a black belt with flats, and my hair was done in a french braid. Faith wore a pink dress with a brown belt with flats, and her hair was in a ponytail. We were almost identical, but my hair was slightly a darker shade of brown.
We walked down the road in silence. We notice other kids who aren't twins happily skipping down the street, not having to worry about the reaping. This is the one time I hate being a twin.
We finally get there, sign in, and go to our section. There weren't too many sets of twins in district 6, but the square was still filled with worried children.
After the mayor gave a speech and we watched the video about the rebellion, the reaping started.
"Welcome, to the reaping for the 4th Quarter Quell!!" Yells our escort, Freia Munson, "Let's pick our first lovely set of twins."
She dips her hand in the bowl, and mixes up the slips slowly on purpose, to keep us waiting. She finally picks one and walks to the microphone.
"Grace and Faith Hope," she yells, "such beautiful names."
We hear our mother cry out from the crowd as we walk up to the stage.
"I-I'm, G-Grace," I manage to stutter out, "and this is Faith, and we're 13."
"Wonderful," says Freia.
I hear a noise and look beside me to see my sister collapse onto the floor. Two peacekeepers come and pick her up, leaving me on the stage alone.
Lynch Ander's POV:
I can't help but feel bad as the girl collapses on stage, but I'm too worried to feel too bad about it.
"Lynx and Lynch Ander" calls Freia.
We both walk up to the stage, trying to look intimidating or strong or anything else but scared.
"I'm Lynx and this is my brother Lynch and we're 16," says my brother.
"Give a round of applause for our tributes," Yells Freia.
As usual, nobody claps.
Faith Hope's POV:
One minute I'm standing on stage, the next everything's black and I feel myself being carried.
I wake up in a room next to my mother and sister.
"We're in the Justice Building, I came to say goodbye," my mother says to me with tears in her eyes.
I sit up and we all sit in a group hug for a while
Eventually my mother pulls out two necklaces with our names on them.
"I meant to give these to you on your birthday in a few months, but now, I want them to be your tokens for the arena," says mother, now crying.
"Thank you," we both say as she puts them around our necks.
We hug again until a peacekeeper tells her she has to leave.
