18) Private Evaluations and Scores

Abel Nickelman's (head gamemaker) POV:

Today is the day all gamemakers dread, private evaluations. We have to spend a few hours watching tributes show off their so called "skills"

Most of them are dissapoimtments.

This year they will come in as pairs and will get a score that counts for both.

District 1:

Arelynn and Ashlynn walk in first, acting confident.

"You have 10 minutes to present your skills," I say as they walk over. They turn and walk to the archery station, but fail miserably. "Can we have 2 dummies please?" Asks Arelynn. We turn on 2 dummies and the girls go at them with knives. After a minute of fighting and stabbing they manage to kill the dummies. They have a few minutes left so they go to the spear throwing station and don't do too bad at that. I'll give them an 8.

Next is Quinn and Quincy.

"You have 10 minutes," I say. "4 dummies," demands Quinn. We get 4 dummies ready ands Quinn picks up some throwing knives and Quincy picks up a spear. Once the dummies start, Quincy throws his spear and it hits the first dummy before it has a chance to raise it's arm. Quinn throws her knives and hits 2 dummies at once, one on the neck and one on the chest. Quincy takes out the last one by charging at it with the spear and hitting it right between the eyes. With that they leave without a word. I'll give them an 11, minus one because of their attitude.

District 2:

First in is Samantha and Amanda.

"10 minutes," I say as they reach us. They nod and head to the archery station. Samantha does pretty good but Amanda, not so much. After a few minutes there, I find that Amanda is good with shurkiens, which aren't very popular with careers. They then decide to try to climb and memorize berries. I'll give them a 9.

Next is Xavier and Xander.

They both walk over and grab 4 knives each and request 4 dummies. They work together to kill all 4. They then request 4 more and use spears. That's pretty much all they do. I'll give them an 11.

District 3:

The first twins in are Brynn and Ben.

They request 6 dummies. Brynn grabs a machete and Ben grabs a spear. Brynn takes down the first one by chopping off its head. Ben spears 3 easilly. Brynn slashes the other 2 in the stomach. I'll give them a 9

Next in comes Olivia and Olive.

They both go to the throwing knives station. They each hit the targets straight on. They then ask for 1 dummy each and take them down with axes. They also go to the first aid station and the poison station. They'll get an 8.

District 4:

First in comes Rosalynne and Ryan.

As usual, district 4 chooses spears. They request 8 dummies and take them down using their spears and also using the dummies weapons that the dummies they killed used, which include an axe and a bow and arrow. I'll give them a 10.

Next in is Amethyst and Amber.

They use spears as well. "Can we have 10 dummies?" Asks Amber shyly. 10? Nobody ever asks for 10. We bring out 10 dummies and start them. They stand there at first, then run towards the dummies. On the way Amethyst grabs a machete and Amber grabs an axe. They take down all 10 dummies in less than 5 minutes with their weapons. We all stare in amazement as they sweetly smile and bow before leaving. They deserve a 12.

District 5:

First from district 5 is Jax and Jaz.

They go over to the maces and grab one each. They first practice on statues then request 4 dummies. They swing the spiky metal balls at the dummys heads and kill them instantly. They're all killed within minutes. They also show their fire making skills. They'll get a 9.
