Its black, everything is black. This can't be happening, this wasn't supposed to happen. He wasn't supposed to die!
I keep seeing his face flash in front of me. How he looked when he died, how he died haunts my dreams. Why is this happening!? What did I do to deserve this!?
Selene jolts awake with tears running down her face. She reaches for the warmth on her legs and pulls Shadow to her chest well developed chest. She buries her face in the silky soft black fur of her faithful companion. Frost, her pure white husky, licks the salty tears from her cheeks. Selene can practically see the concern in her black eyes. How many times has she woken up from the same nightmare? This can't keep happening it's taking its toll on Selene. Her long midnight black hair is raggedy, icy blue eyes are dull and lifeless, and her milky white skin is taking on a bluish, purple hue.s
I can't keep waking up like this. Thank goodness it's summer vacation, other wise this would seriously affect my grades.
Selene's sobs finally quiet down to an occasional sniffle. It's confusing, she has this nightmare almost every night, but she has no idea who the man in her dream is. She needs to know who he is. Every time she sees his blurry face her heart shatters.
He's important to me. I don't know why, but he means a lot to me.
Selene glances at the clock on her bedside table. It's too early to be up for any reason. She pulls back the covers and slides her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet slip into comfortable fluffy slippers as she rises from the bed. It's late and there's no possible way she's going back to sleep.
Selene heads towards the library in her house. The big mahogany doors  look in the flickering light of the candle that she carries. She stares at it for just a moment wondering if her parents would here her if she opens the old doors. Finally she grabs the brass pull bar and opens up the door. The hinges creak loudly and Selene flinches from the sound. She pauses for a moment, listening to see if she had awaken any of he houses occupants. The silence is deafening. Deeming it safe to continue Selene slips through the doorway closing it gently as she goes.
Selene looks around the cold and empty room. The thick silk curtains are drawn across the windows and the brick fire place is absent of its usual warmth.
Her eyes wander over the oak bookshelves that tower from floor to ceiling and stretch from wall to wall. Her eyes come to rest on the chain that barricades her from part of the library.
I wonder what mother and father keep behind that blasted chain. What's that saying......curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. It's not like looking back there is going to hurt anybody.
With her mind made up, Selene slips under the chain that has barricaded her curiosity for years. The books are old, it's plain to see. The leather is worn and withered with age. She continues to walk through the aisles of books when one suddenly catches her eye. It sits on a black metal stand and something about it was calling her. She slowly walks over to it and takes it in. It is by far the oldest book in the entire library. It is bound in black leather that must have been through a lot. The cover is withered and looks slightly burned.

Its calling her, that's the simplest way to put it. She reaches for the book and as her wraps around the sides of the book a shock zips through her body. Suddenly she hears the massive library doors open. Her heart stops for just a second and then she jolts into action. She releases the book and starts running towards the window. She slips behind the large thick curtain that pools on the floor, she quickly blows out her candle.

The footsteps are getting closer and the closer they get the harder Selene's heart pounds. The footsteps stop and so does her heart. They pause briefly in front of the curtain that hides her disobedience. Her heart kick-starts and she starts sweating. Finally the owner of the footsteps moves on. She waits until she hears the library doors pen and close. She slowly emerges from her silky hiding place.

Selene walks back over to the book. There's something about the book that is calls her to it. She looks at the spine of the book. It's obvious that the book hasn't been opened in a while. Selene looks at the words on the spine and reads them out loud.

"The Book Of Prophecy," her voice echoes through the empty library. Selene flinches when something brushes up against her leg. She looks down and sees its just Shadow. Her eyes wander and she notices Frost laying a few feet in front of her.

How could I have not noticed them earlier? How did they even get here? I'm certain I left them in my room.

Suddenly the book shocks her again, drawing her attention away from the animals on the floor. There's something about this blasted book that draws her attention. Frost moves closer to Selene so that she is laying across her feet. Shadow jumps on the rack and starts pawing at the lock that is keeping Selene from satisfying her curiosity. The lock pops open and the book slams open to a random page.

"Darkness is gaining power slowly but surely.

Only one can save you from the coming shadows.

The balance is breaking, order is becoming chaos.

Your time is limited, you must find the moon.

The moon is the key to restore what is broken.

She will love all and all will love her.

She bares a crescent on her hip.

Her loyal guardians, yin and yang, forever at her side.

The moon is the key to everlasting hope.

Be forewarned for fifteen long years she

Will remain hidden by your worst nightmare.

In the fifteenth year the moon will return,

She will right every wrong and fix every heart."

Selene stops reading the passage and feels warm. She looks down and notices she's glowing.

      "Oh man!!"
