Essence

Chapter Seven

      Something or someone is shacking Selene and she is not happy about it what so ever. Selene opens her eyes and glare at the elf that ruined her precious sleep.
     "Do you have a death wish?" She asks irritated. All she gets in reply is a smirk from Raven. Selene huffs and looks around. Her eyes come to rest on the towering oak tree that she lies under. It's huge almost as big as the Empire State Building. It's branches spread out like a roof and sunlight filters through the leaves. It's beautiful and Selene can feel the power it holds radiate from it. Her eyes scan the branches hoping to catch a glimpse of a creature scurrying across one of the the branches. Instead she she's a beautiful woman smiling down at her with love shining through her eyes.
     "Hello my precious daughter I hope you had a pleasant sleep." The woman says kindly. Selene can't take her eyes off of the kind woman all she could manage was to nod her head. The woman's smile brightens.
Suddenly the woman holds out her hand and gently swings it towards Selene. A branch of the trees heads towards Selene and wraps around her waist. Selene is too shocked to even scream and Raven just stands to the side calmly with the familiars sitting at his feet.
The branch lifts her off her feet and carries her towards the woman, but Selene isn't afraid, in fact she trusts the mysterious woman with all her heart. The branch sets Selene down next to the woman and she begins to speak.
"Hello Selene I've been wanting to see you for a very long time. I am Mother Earth, but you can just call me Mother." Mother says.
"Hi," Selene squeaks out suddenly very nervous.
"No need to be tense my child. You are safe here."
"I never expected to meet you. This is a huge honor." Mother laughs at this statement.
"My dear, all of my children meet me at some point in their life. You and Raven just happen to meet me sooner than most."
"Oh. Um.... Is it okay if I ask you a question."
"Ask me whatever you like."
"What did the fairy mean when she called me a savior?"
"Sorry my dear, but we will have to wait for my sister before I answer that question."
"Oh okay. Um another question, why did you call me your child?"
"Because I created the magical beings that walk on two legs."
"Did you also create the demons that attacked us earlier."
"No child those were created by the dark desires within creatures hearts."
"Selene stop asking Mother pointless questions." Raven tells her annoyed.
"They're not pointless I'm really want to know." Selene replies.
"You're just proving that I was right when I called you a brat."
"No I'm not. I'm not from this realm so I don't know about it."
"It's obvious if you think about it. Can you even think logically?"
"Why you irritating pointy-eared jerk wad!" Mother watches them bicker in amusement.
       "Now now children don't fight." Mother says with laughter in her voice.
They fall silent at this comment. Then there's a flash and everything goes black.
