Chapter Ten

Water fills Selene's lungs and she starts swimming towards the surface. She breaks through and gasps for air. Raven emerges besides her and swims right in front of her. Water trails down his face and his raven colored locks stick to the side of his face and neck. His black tunic clings to his muscular frame. His forest green eyes search her body for any injuries. Thank goodness Mother Earth gave her a new less revealing outfit. He sighs in relief when he sees she's unharmed. He turns around and swims for shore. Selene follows him lost in thought.
    "Why did you follow me, you could've been seriously injured." Selene says concerned.
     "I wouldn't have had to jump after you if you had been aware of your surroundings." He replies calmly. Neither one of them raised their voice which for them is very strange. Selene walks over to Raven and starts looking him over for injuries. She gently lays her hand on the bruise forming on his cheek. He lays his hand over hers and closes his eyes. With her other hand she brushes some of his wet hair behind his ears. He doesn't protest. Taking advantage of the moment she start tracing his facial features. He releases her hand and his arm falls to his side giving her permission to continue with her exploration of his face. Selene places one hand on his shoulder and stands on her tip toes to make it easier. She traces his eyes first. He has lashes that most girls would kill for dark, thick, and long. She moves on to trace his cheek bones and gently brush against his jaw. She moves her fingers up and traces his bottom lip, it's full and soft and she suddenly has the urge to nip it. She slides her hand down the column of his neck. She traces his caller bone and gently slides her hand down his muscular chest. She traces each individual ab(six pack wow). Raven's eyes snap open and he grabs Selene's wrist. Her eyes snap up to meet his and she's greeted with them burning with emotion. He bends down and their lips connect. He kisses her hard and she nips at his bottom lip like she wanted to do earlier. He lifts her up to make things easier. Selene's back slams against a tree and he pushes his weight into her. Just as things start getting good, a high shrill whistle rings in their ears.

      "See! What'd I tell you? Sexual Tension!" Klaus's voice rings through the small clearing. Raven leaps away from Selene, putting as much distance between them as he can, completely forgetting about the fact that he was holding up Selene. Selene crashes to the forest floor with gasp of pain.
"You jerk!" She yells at Raven as she stands up and rubs her bottom. He doesn't say anything he just stares at her n shock as if he can't believe what just happened. He turns on his heel and walks into the forest, letting the shadows of the night swallow up his figure. Nixie emerges from the opposite direction.
I hope I have you two enough time alone.
What do you mean? Selene telepathically asks Nixie.
And how long have I been able to do this?
You've always been able to do this and I gave you two time alone due to the fact you two are mates.
Mates? What do mean?
Mates are a pair that are meant to be together.
Raven and I are mates?
Yes child, the two of you are meant to be.
Selene's legs go out from under and she leans back against the tree. It suddenly makes sense, all the sexual tension, the uncontrollable need to be near him. Her head falls into her hands. He didn't want to be caught kissing her.
He doesn't want me. My own mate doesn't want me.
Selene stays into that position until a thought crosses her mind.
Nixie!
Yes child?
Does Raven know what we are to each other.
Yes
Selene is mad, she has never been so mad in her entire life. Raven chooses that moment to appear. Selene stalks over to him and once again slaps across the face.
"You lying sack of crap." Selene growls at him.
"How could you not tell me we are mates." She raises her hand to slap him again but he catches it before she makes contact. He reseals their lips and kisses her long and slow. He slowly part from her and looks down at her with a smirk.
"You shouldn't slap your mate. And just so you know I just came to the conclusion that we are mates after I left." He replies cockily.
"Shut up and kiss me." Selene demands with a smile and Raven happily complies. Thank goodness the familiars and Nixie left after the slap.
