Essence

Chapter Nine

Beautiful. That's the only word that can describe the creature in front of me. It's so graceful and elegant. Am I worthy of the protection from such a magnificent creature. She already knows her name, it's Nixie. She told me herself. Should I be worried that I can hear an alicorn's voice in my head?

Nixie is 7 ft tall at the shoulder and 9 ft tall at the tip of her ears. She glows a blue color with a purple face. She has light blue wings that lighten as they grow and a white mane. Her horn is bright white and glows with magic. She is the only other creation of both Lady Night and Mother Earth. Selene walks over to Nixie and Nixie bends her neck so they can look each other in the eye. Selene timidly reaches out her hand and stroked Nixie's muzzle. Raven comes up from behind Selene and swings her over his shoulder.
    "What are you doing!?" She screeches in his ear.
     "First of all what did I tell you about screeching? And second of all we need to get moving so I'm ending yours and the alicorn's little moment before it drag on longer than necessary."
   "The alicorn's name is Nixie and your just being a jerk wad."
   Raven deposits Selene on Nixie's back and climbs on behind her.
   "What about Frost Shadow, and Klaus? They can't ride on Nixie." Selene asks in concern.
    "Don't worry they can move just as fast as an alicorn when they run. We've been holding them back." Raven soothes the worried teen. Selene nods in understanding. Feeling that her passengers are ready to go, Nixie takes flight. Selene clutches onto Nixie's mane in fright and Raven wraps his arms around her waist. They slowly ascend to a nice height and Selene relaxes slightly.
    "It's so pretty up here." Selene comments.
     "It is indeed," Raven replies with a small smile. Selene glances back at him and her voice catches in her throat. He looks mystified and it makes him look even hotter than he already is. Selene's heart flutters in her chest when his eyes meet hers. He ever so slowly leans in and Selene tilts her head up and slowly closes her eyes.
    Now, now little ones there'll be none of that happening on my back. Nixie's voice in her head cause Selene to jerk away from Raven while forgetting where she is. She falls off of Nixie's back, she sea a look of horror on Ravens face before he dives after her. Selene is to shocked to scream, to shocked to do much of anything at this moment. Raven catches up to her and wraps his arms around her. He twists them mid air she will take the brunt of the fall. They get closer and closer to the ground. Finally Selene feels a sharp pain surge through her body and everything goes black.
