Derek held my hand the entire ride to my house. I thought it was sweet. Even though he was taller and stronger than me I felt that I could still hold my own. It was hilarious. When we got to my house we walked in to find the young wolves cowering in the corner. Scott, Isaac, Boyd, Erica, and Cora stood in front of Allison (Who was grumbling), Stiles, and Lydia. Derek and I heard a powerful growl come from the other side of the room. I knew exactly what was going on.

I turned slowly and saw my father in the other corner of the room. His red eyes blazed as they took in his children with another pack.

“WHAT IS GOING ON SHAY?” My father roared. I heard Derek’s claws come out. I shot a look at him. He had turned as well. Putting my hands on my hips I answered,

“You are not my father. And you are not my alpha.”

My father then proceeded to launch himself towards me, his claws gleaming. My instincts kicked in and I rolled away just as Derek met my dad in the middle. There was a flurry of swipes and blood was everywhere. Cora, seeing her brother under attack, shot off into the fight. Boyd and Erica, always loyal to their alpha as well went after Cora. I knew my father was strong but against three betas and an alpha he had no chance. Will, Isaac, Alexa, and Scott still stood over Allison, Lydia, and Stiles. I backed towards slowly, avoiding the fight. Just then my father had a grip on Derek. I screamed as he tossed his body out the window. Glass shattered and flew everywhere. I ignored it and ran up to my father from behind. I jumped on his back and wrapped my arms around his neck. I started to squeeze, my grip unfaltering just like a python’s. I leaned down and said in his ear,

“I hate you, you drink and hit us and don’t care about anything or anyone. Al and Will wanted to join Derek’s pack and you know what?  I told them that we had to be loyal to our alpha, OUR FATHER. But now… But now I whole-heartedly agree with them. You are nothing to me.” And just as the last breath of his body was leaving him, my father turned around and sank his jaws into my shoulder.

I screamed and pushed my body away from his. My father’s corpse fell to the ground beside me and didn’t get back up. The betas and Derek had watched the final confrontation go down and were as stunned as I was. Derek though was the first one to notice.

“He bit her. Oh my god he bit her.” The other wolves in the room heard. I was only slightly aware of Scott calling an ambulance, of my sister and brother’s faces, and always Derek. He held me close to him and rocked me back and forth. He was crying. It hurt so badly, like my entire body was on fire. But I reached my hand up and cupped Derek’s face.

“I love you.” I whisper. And with that I fall into unconsciousness. And I never heard him say those three little words back to me.
