Chapter 17
Emily's POV
As soon as I walked in my bedroom, Zayn closed the door and walked over to me.
"What happened at the mall, Emily?"
"We had Starbucks, took a picture with a--"
"You know that's not what I meant." He gritted.
I sighed knowing there's no way out. He's gonna have to know soon.
"I... I ran in to my ex, Max." I mumbled.
"What?! He didn't try anything on you did he?" He frowned.
"H-he just scared me, Zayn." I admitted.
Zayn didn't think twice and wrapped me in his arms, making me feel protected from everything.
"I won't let him hurt you." He swore.
"H-he's the reason for everything, you know that right?" I sighed.
Zayn pulled away from the hug and started staring at me with worry written all over his face.
"Maybe he's the one you're parents are warning you about." He said quietly.
It makes sense. He actually just might be the one they're warning me about.
He's the reason I was all dark and depressed.
*Flashback*
"Come on babe, I won't let them hurt you." Max smiled as he took my hand and pulled me to this dark alleyway.
"M-max? Where are we going?" I gasped as I clutched to his arm.
"Somewhere." He smirked as we kept walking.
We turned to a pathway in the alleyway that I never knew existed and stopped.
"Wh-what are we doing here?" I asked.
He then forcibly grabbed me and threw me to the floor.
"You trusted the wrong person with your love. I was never happy with you, Scar. You're nothing. A waste of space. A baggage for me, for your cousin." He frowned as if the nice, gentle Max just immediately turned to a complete demonic, lunatic person.
"W-what are you talking about?" I cried as I slowly crawled away from him, not breaking eye contact.
"What am I talking about? The fact that you killed your parents. You're a monster Scar. Just as much as I am."
"I-I didn't kill them! They got into an accident!" I protested.
He walked over to me and hovered on top of me, pinning me down.
"How did they get into an accident Scarlett? How?" He hissed.
"I-I..."
