Walking out of a failed job interview was a pain in the ass already, never mind that it was pouring down rain. I stood under the canopy by the door of the large building I had just left. I was definitely not getting that job. I saw a cab pull up to the curb and I made a run for it. I got in and closed the door. I was out of the rain and I could go home.
But I wasn't going home. I told my friend Taylor I would go to this dumb concert with her. I was supposed to meet her there after my interview.
"Where to?" The cab driver asked. I sighed and pulled out my phone to get the address.
"Oh, 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York." I said reading my screen.
"Madison Square Garden." Someone said next to me. We looked at each other and I crossed my arms.
"Excuse me, but I was here first." I said. I was not paying for his trip.
"Um, you were not." He said rolling his eyes. He looked out the window and I was seriously wondering if he was seriously going to kick me out of this cab in the rain.
"Yes I was!" I protested. He just looked at me and I gritted my teeth, "You're really going to kick me out? It's raining. What happened to ladies first?"
"Well I'm sorry, but I'm running late!" He said seriously, "It's actually really important I'm on time here."
"Not my problem." I said gesturing for him to get out.
"You're right," He said opening the door for me, "Bye." I didn't move other than to close the door back.
"Look if any one is getting out it's you." I said stubbornly, "I have a friend waiting on me."
"That's great! I have four friends and 20,000 other people waiting for me!" He said. He did win there, but I wasn't getting out.
"Yo," The cab driver said with an eye roll, "You're going to the same place." I frowned and sat back in my seat as the car started moving. Fine, we would share the cab, but I wasn't going to like it.
"I'm Luke Hemmings by the way." he said, trying to be nice now. It doesn't really work that way when you try kicking people out of your cab two seconds before.
"Good for you." I grumbled before I realized. He was one of the annoying guys Taylor got us tickets for. I closed my eyes and I could hear the smug little smile on his face.
"Do you have a name?" he asked pulling out his phone. I smirked to myself. I could at least have some fun on this annoying car ride.
"Yeah." I said watching him text his friends that he was running late.
"What is it?" He asked raising his eyebrows at me.
I smiled and crossed my arms, "Trouble." He just blinked at me. He clearly wasn't amused by my joke.
"okay seriously." He said. I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"It's Bethany." I said looking down at my lap. I was thinking of just playing with my phone until we got out of the car, but I noticed my shirt and decided to take my joke a bit further. "Oh hey, do you like my Cobain shirt, Luke?" He blinked at me and sighed. I noticed he had a lip ring and I found it a bit funny, especially when I thought about maybe when he took it out. "Hey when you don't have that ring in your lip, can you still hold your breath in your mouth without it leaking out? And when you drink water does it come out the tiny hole like a fountain?" He wasn't liking my jokes so I put my headphones in and started playing some music. But of course you can guy the first song that came on. "Oh my god!" He looked at me, his eyes a bit wide.
