I zipped up my hoodie and followed the crowd of fans into the large building where I knew Calum was performing at tonight. No one but Ashton and I knew I was here. He had scored me a ticket to get in, but we both knew I didn't actually come for the show. I was purely here to see my boyfriend after months of touring and trying to convince my parents to let me go see him without a chaperone. They were a bit protective when it came to their only daughter, but I found it annoying and uncalled for.
I managed to get Dave, the boys' bodyguard, to take me backstage. He wasn't really someone easily convinced but I showed him that Ashton had texted me to show I was legitimately Calum's girlfriend. He led me through the crowded halls of the arena and through a couple deserted hallways before I started to hear loud music playing and the boys' loud yells as they pumped themselves up for the concert. Dave stopped outside the open doorway and I felt myself getting nervous.
Calum and I had been together for months, but I couldn't help but think he wouldn't actually be glad to see me. I slowly stepped into the room and Ashton was first to see me. He grinned and waved. Michael noticed him and looked to see who he was waving at. He was in the middle of a Snapchat. He yelled and hopped up from the couch.
"Calum's girlfriend is here!" He said letting me into the frame. I grinned and waved awkwardly.
"Here to see Cal." I said pursing my lips as Ashton grabbed my arm and jerked me over to Luke, who wrapped me in a hug.
"Hey!" He said, sounding shocked to see me. He was holding a cup of beverage, that I guessed was some kind of beer, as he held his arm around my shoulders. "It's good to see you! How long are you here?" I laughed at him and watched Ashton grab his drumsticks and twirl them around his finger.
"I don't know," I said responding to Luke. I pulled my phone out of the pocket of my hoodie as Luke removed his arm from around me. "however long Calum wants me around I guess." Michael scoffed and he flopped back down in his seat on the couch.
"You'll never leave if you leave it up to him." He said laughing. He made a face at his phone screen and I assumed he was still playing on Snapchat. I shrugged at him and looked around the room.
"Speaking of Calum," I said frowning slightly, "where is he?" Luke shrugged and Michael grabbed my hand and pulled me next to him on the couch.
"He will be back in a second." Ashton said smiling to me comfortingly. I smiled back at him as Michael moved his phone so I was in the frame again.
"Snapchat with me." He said making a creepy face at the camera. I laughed as he held down the button to film. "Ellie is here!"
"Hi!" I giggled at him and waved lightly, "I've missed you guys."
"Mainly me." Michael said grinning. I rolled my eyes and shook my head at him. "Yes you did. You missed me the most. Don't deny it."
"You're nuts." I said pecking his cheek quickly. Michael squealed like a girl as the video ran out of time. He put a filter on it and took another video of him puking rainbows.
"5sos is on in five." A guy said looking into the room. I sighed and found I was getting impatient waiting on Calum. Where was he? Ashton and Luke started jumping up and down, getting ready to go on stage. Michael joined them and I giggled at them. "Two minutes." Michael walked back to where the bathroom was and called inside that they were going on in two minutes. What was Calum doing in there? I didn't really want to ask. He appeared and instantly followed the boys of the room without even noticing me.
"Great...." I said to myself. Now I had to sit down and wait for them to come back to see my boyfriend. I didn't really have much of an interest in seeing them perform. I had heard the songs a billion times, and I'd seen them play a billion and one. I was too tired to go deal with the crowds anyway. I had been on a plane for hours, that was enough social XP for me.
I pulled out my phone and opened Snapchat for myself. I put on the puppy dog filter and rolled out my lip. "I came to see Little Squish and he didn't even notice me." I pouted and posted it to my story before I decided to look through Twitter. Fan accounts already posted about how I was with the guys. It was amazing how on top of things they were. I watched the videos of Michael and me and rolled my eyes. I looked at people comments, ignoring the rude ones about me, and reading the ones that had to do with how funny Michael was. I liked a comment about how cute I was before I closed the app and picked up one of the video game controllers.
I turned on whatever game they had played last and spent my time doing that. After about an hour my phone buzzed and I looked to see Calum tweeted at me. I slid my finger across my screen and looked at the tweet.
Hey! @elliephant I'm told you're here! Where are you??
I laughed and liked his tweet, but I didn't write a response. He had evidentially done it from the stage. I went back to playing FIFA by myself. He could talk to me when he was through with his show.
It was another hour before I heard them coming down the hall. They were so loud, and it made me laugh. These guys were nuts. I paused the game and stood up as they all walked in sweaty and hyped up on adrenaline. I watched Luke and Ashton walk in together and they were laughing loudly. Michael and Calum tripped into the room shoving and wrestling each other around until Calum saw me. He moved away from Michael just in time for him to miss being knocked over.
He was all sweaty, but I didn't care. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he lifted me up slightly as he hugged me tighter than I was hugging him. "How long have you been here?" He asked burying his nose into my shoulder. I ruffled my fingers through his hair and giggled.
"I was here before you guys went on!" I said rolling my eyes at him. "You, being the dork you are, didn't bother to notice me before you went to play." I laughed as we pulled away from each other just enough for him to catch my lips with his own.
"I've missed you!" He said loudly, like it had to be yelled or he didn't actually mean it, "You better not be planning to go home anytime soon." He kissed my cheek and I grinned.
"I'm here as long as you want." I said hugging him again.
"Calum, food." Luke said throwing an empty water bottle at the bassist. Calum glanced at him and he sighed. He was hungry. I could see it in his eyes. But he didn't want to let go of me.
"Go eat." I shoved him and he went to get some food. I sat next to Luke on the couch and he grinned at me and I stole some of his food from his plate. He narrowed his eyes at me as Calum sat down next to me. I grabbed my phone and opened Snapchat again.
"Hey! Squish finally noticed me! Say hello to the people, Squish." I said leaning against his shoulder. Calum moved his face into the frame and grinned.
"Hello People!" He said, "I'm very happy my Squish is here." I laughed and shook my head.
"You're the Squish." I said seriously, "I'm not the Squish."
"Well you're my squish." He kissed my cheek as the video ended and I knew people were going to want to see the rest of that. But they couldn't. Calum offered me a bite of his food and I took it before he put his arm around my shoulders, holding me close to him as he finished eating.
"Regardless of whether or not I'm your Squish or not," I said sliding my arm over his waist, "I'm glad I'm here too."
