Necros watched Asher and his friend leave for the village of Jaora in his magic sphere.

"Master." A voice said behind his back.

Necros turned to see Shodo. He was a infamous Orc that terrorized the lands. He was also from 1,000 years ago. Shodo was Necros' head beastmaster and link to the bounty hunters and creatures of the lands.

"Yes, Shodo?" Necros asked.

"What do you wish to send against the boy?" Shodo asked respectfully.

"Hmm. What do you think?" Necros asked him, catching him off guard. Shodo knew this was a test.

He chose his words carefully and said. "He is strong but inexperienced. I reckon we only need to send some Shadow Wolves to finish him."

"Good choice, now I want them on their way immediately." Necros ordered.

S

hodo bowed and replied, "Yes master." and he was gone.

Necros turned back to his sphere and watched the boy; his brow furrowed as he frowned. He waved his hand and the image of Asher disappeared.

                                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Asher sat next to the tent, waiting for Weeko to come back from hunting. They were about halfway to Jaora now, and it was nightfall. Asher was still worried of what Necros would send after him. He heard a twig snap behind him and he turned his head quickly. Weeko stood there with two dead rabbits on a spear.
"I can never sneak up on you anymore." Weeko said.
"I guess knowing that someone wants me dead can make me a little jumpy." Asher answered.
"Let's go ahead and get the fire started to get these two cooking." Weeko said. She went into the tent to gather the kindling; when she came out, Asher sat by an impressive fire.
"How did you do that?" Weeko asked. Asher raised an eyebrow and held up a hand, which was covered in flames.
"Oh, I keep forgetting about that," Weeko said, "I still can't believe that after all of these that we would be on an adventure."
"I can't believe after all of these years I don't look like dirt to everyone." Asher said.
"You never looked like dirt to me, or Zeo." Weeko said trying to make him feel better, but she knew she made a mistake a second too late. Asher clutched his fists in anger.
"Zeo said that Necros killed my mother. My father won't tell me anything, and the only person who knew is dead." Asher said in dismay. Weeko pondered this for a second and replied, "Hey, there has to someone else who knows what's going on. If there isn't, we'll find out from Necros
himself. Remember, we won't be alone."
Asher brightened up to this, " I wonder what the Elementalist is like."
"Me too. I wonder if..." Weeko started but suddenly stopped. She held a finger to her lips to signal to stay quiet. She stood up slowly and looked around.
She whispered, "We're surrounded."
Asher didn't ask how she knew, he trusted Weeko. He stood up slowly and they both walked towards Weeko's weapons. She grabbed to bow and arrows, waiting for their stalkers to show themselves. A beast that looked like a wolf stepped forward. They couldn't be sure because it was made of smoke. More of these wispy creatures cam forward until they were completely surrounded.
"Can they hurt us?" Asher whispered.
As if to answer his question. One of the smokey beasts prowled up to the two dead rabbits and tore into them. They may have appeared to be made of gases, but they could still seriously harm things. Weeko fixed an arrow into her bow and took aim. She had the largest beast in her sights then shot. The arrow went right through the beast's head. It would've been a killing shot, if it had something to hit. These creatures couldn't be hurt by their weapons. They circled in on Weeko and and Asher, preparing to pounce.
Asher stepped forward and said, "My turn."
He burst into flames and the beasts cowered back. Asher threw a flame ball at one of them and it hit its mark. The beast fell down with a hole in its side and seemed to fade into the shadows. Interesting, it was like they were shadows. While Asher pondered this idea, he had a plan form in his head. Meanwhile, a beast sneaked past him and pounced at Weeko. She ducked and rolled under it, it's claws raking the air above her.
"Any day now, Hot guy." Weeko called.
She couldn't dodge the shadow beast forever. Asher looked at the fire he had started earlier and concentrated. It was in the dead center of the circle, and the only way his plan would work was if all of the beasts were as close as they could be. He waited until he could see the teeth of the nearest beast; he looked at the fire and thought Rise. The fire suddenly grew tremendously. The clearing they were in illuminated greatly, which was exactly what Asher was hoping for. The creatures howled in pain and disintegrated into the light.
Weeko looked at Asher and asked, "Did you know if that would work or not?"
Asher shrugged and said, "We didn't exactly have any other ideas."
They both started laughing and hugged each other in relief. They had just encountered Necros' first obstacle and won.
Weeko looked at the moon and said, "We better get some sleep in before we leave."
Asher noded in agreement. He was exhausted from their long day. Asher lay down on his mat and was asleep before his head hit the ground.
