Chapter 14

★Ellie's POV★

"How are you feeling?" Laura asks Alex sweetly trying to find out why he's a bit down. Of course she would ask.

Why does she care anyways?

Oh gosh. Where did this voice come from? I'm literally going crazy. She's caring like always. No need to make a fuss about it in my stupid head.

"Why do you care?" Austin asks with a grunt leaving unconsciously from his mouth from beside me voicing out my thoughts. Maybe I like this guy. But the thing is.. Why does he care? Pretty interesting I must say. He likes to piss her off and now he's jealous. Laura averts her gaze away from Alex and glares deathly at Austin.

"Why do you care if I care?" Laura asks raising her perfect plucked eyebrow and a small smirk forms on her lips which doesn't go unnoticed by Austin who reacts with a huff.

"Why do you care if I care if you care?" Austin asks huffing and furrows slightly his eyebrows in both a cute and funny way. Laura bites her lip and points her finger at him taking a deep breath.

"Why do you care if I care-" Laura begins to say but pauses mid-sentence trying to think what to say next but apparently Austin beats her to it.

"Spee-" He begins to say but as expected I rudely cut him off.

"Guys! Come on!" I say with my voice coming out desperate and squeaky. And maybe.. Just maybe.. I said that too loud because now all eyes are on me. Freaking awesome. I hate having this much attention on me. I look around and spot a pair of familiar big blue eyes staring at me with amusement. Jess's smiling at me. I smile awkwardly and clearly feeling uncomfortable back at him wishing to disappear.

"Don't you know it's rude to stare?" Alex says loudly to everyone and a sigh of relief escapes my mouth. I turn to look at him and his expression has turned into an angry one. He's specifically glaring at Jess and not at everyone. Okay.. Have they met again or is just Alex overreacting again? Either way he saved me and I'm glad.

Or so I thought.

"Is she the freak that committed suicide?" I hear a girl whisper with disgust lacing her voice and my eyes widen in embarrassment and.. hurt.

"Oh god. She is the skinny girl who tried to kill herself." I hear lots of whispers coming from all around the bus but I try to block them out.

"Do the people whisper 'bout you on the train like me?

Saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me?

And all the people say,

You can't wake up, this is not a dream,

You're part of a machine, you are not a human being,

With your face all made up, living on a screen,

Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline." I sing quietly forgetting about their stupid comments and move slightly my head to the beat. I think I can relate to this song.

"Are you Ellie?!" A cheery voice is heard and my eyes flicker towards the direction of a tall girl with long dark brown hair standing beside me. She has a big happy smile on her lips and I can't help but smile back.

Lexie; [Crystal Reed]

"Um. Yeah. And you are?" I ask her still smiling and an unexpected squeal of excitement escapes her lips making me flinch. She encloses me in a tight hug leaving me no air to breath and I awkwardly pat her back in order not to seem rude.

"I'm Lexie! So nice to finally meet you!" She says pulling away and my face scrunches up in confusion and my eyes meet hers. I examine her face for a few seconds before I open my mouth to speak. But to my embarrassment nothing comes out and I shut it not wanting to look like a fish.

"Oh! I mean I'm a big fan of yours! Your performance really impressed me and I'm so lucky to finally meet you!" She explains noticing my discomfort and confusion so I nod at her offering her one of my tooth-smiles.

"Nice to meet you Lexie! I'm a fan of yours too." I admit and her eyes widen. I have seen her practice and she really is talented. Her hand is placed on her open mouth and I uncomfortably swift on my seat looking around to the people who seem to be pretty interested in our conversation.

"You have got to be kidding me!" She says slowly removing her hand from her mouth and I gulp feeling all the stares on us. I shake my head no and she pulls me in for one more hug.

"I want a -Lexie- hug too!" Austin whines opening his arms widely and Laura's huff is sounded throughout the other voices. Austin's smirk grows bigger as he gives a quick glance at Laura. Lexie pulls him for a quick hug before pulling away with her big smile still evident on her face.

That's when Lexie decides to hug Alex,too.

And I look away.

"Ellie. Do you want a hug, too?" Alex asks teasingly as he opens his arm for me incurring my eyes to widen and I look back at him.

"What? Uhm- No!" I answer immediately shaking my head furiously. Alex rolls his eyes and raises knowingly both of his eyebrows at me. I give him a confused look and he just sighs.

"Oh! Guys! I forgot to tell you how amazing is Ellie at painting!" Alex comments offering one of his notorious smirks and my eyes widen once again. Is he going to tell them about my graffiti?

Oh no.. He wouldn't!

Or he would?

"What?" Laura asks dubiously and Alex slowly opens his mouth to answer still looking at me. I quickly stand up from my seat and hug him awkwardly placing my hands on his neck. He just chuckles and I inwardly hit the back of his head hard. He groans in pain and I hold back a laugh.

"That's new." Laura murmurs looking at me confused and I nervously shrug my shoulders. This is just incredibly awkward and uncomfortable.

"Guys! We're here!" One of the guys announces excitedly and everyone cheers.

"So.. " Alex voice distracts me from my thoughts as we're making our way to the small gathering for the contestants. We just videotaped our clips and we're heading to the small bonfire on the end of the beach.

"So...?" I ask with boredom lacing my voice and keep my eyes away from his.

"I want to tell you something." His voice turns serious and my expression changes from bored to curious in the blink of an eye.

"Go on." I say as I stop in my tracks and turn to look at him.

This better be serious.

His eyes bore into mine for a brief second before he averts his gaze away from mine and looks at the sea.

Okay this is really serious.

He gulps and nervously runs a hand through his hair before he finally meets my gaze once again.

"I-...."
