The End Of The World

Reese's POV

I clung to a branch, trying to push myself as far up as I could. A walker came close to my dangling leg and I yelped.
Mckenzie quickly shot it with her slingshot and helped me up the tree.
Walkers began to swarm the base of the tree, shaking it.
I grunted, sitting in a stable position before handing Mckenzie her rocks so she could shoot some of the walkers. I tried to keep up with her pace, handing her a new pebble each time she shot one.
One particular walker managed to shake the tree to point where I began to shake unsteadily.
There was nothing I could grab onto, except Mckenzie. I didn't want to take her down with me so I just let the shaking continue.
"It's getting a bit shaky over here!" I warned through gritted teeth.
I looked up to see Kevin and Dylan. Both boys were peeling off strips of bark and throwing them at the walkers.
One final shake finally knocked me off the tree.
I screamed and managed to grab onto a branch.
Mckenzie turned, dropping her slingshot onto the ground in order to hurry to my aid.
She pulled her way up the branch, reaching her hand out.
"I'll pull you down with me!" I shouted, trying to be heard over the groans.
"I don't care! At least I would've tried." She shouted back.
I shook my head. It was over for me.
"I'm going to let go!" I said, fear taking over me.
"Hey! You're not leaving us without a fight!" Dylan yelled.
He leapt onto the branch below him, letting his legs dangle down as well.
"You idiot!" Mckenzie screamed.
The walkers noticed new bait dangling from the tree and retreated towards Dylan.
I finally let go of the branch, landing on my knees.
I snatched up the slingshot.
"Catch!" I yelled, tossing it up to Mckenzie.
She caught it and began shooting at the walkers.
Kevin fell to the ground, standing and brushing himself off.
"We need to split them up! Get them away from Dylan." He said.
I nodded.
We both ran to opposite sides of the walker heard, attempting to avoid Mckenzie's bullets.
Dylan dangled from the tree, barely managing to lift his leg up before it got bitten by a walker.
"Uhh guys! You better hurry!" He shouted, kicking at a couple of the walkers.
I looked up at Mckenzie, giving her a look.
She seemed to understand what my idea was and executed it perfectly.
She shot one pebble directly behind me and another behind Kevin.
The plan worked perfectly. Well almost.
While most of the walkers split up to chase either me or Kevin, three were still pursuing Dylan.
I ran a wide circle around the three, Kevin leading his pack off into the distance.
I circled the three, dodging the walkers as Mckenzie shot them. The population began to dwindle and I was a couple of yards away from Dylan. Mckenzie tossed the bag next to me and I quickly picked up my katana.
I impaled the last two walkers that were chasing me and sprinted towards Dylan.
I slashed through the last three walkers
and Dylan fell to the ground.
We grinned at each other and high fived.
Our few seconds of victory were quickly interrupted by a scream in the distance.
