Warning: talk of physical abuse

Newt's POV

"Hey, loser! Why don't you talk?" One laughed, pushing the me into a locker.

"Yeah, you s-stupid or something?"

He kicked me in the rib and I gasped in pain.

"P-please." I whispered.

"What was that? I didn't hear you." The ringleader growled, kneeling down and grabing a fist full of my hair and slamming my head into the lockers once again.

"P-p-please, s-stop." I pleaded again.

"What makes you think we'll do that, gay boy?" He sneered, getting up and kicking me again.

They continued to kick me and laugh until I was almost unconscious from the constant blows.

"Hey!" A strong voice yelled. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

The kicking stopped, and at first I thought a teacher had finally came to save me from the bullies, that was until I felt a strong pair of arms pick me up and I saw my saivor's face. It was the jock, the most popular guy in school, the leader of all the sports teams. It was Thomas.

What was he doing? Helping the kid who had a speech impediment and the loser of the school, it's like he was giving me his pity. I didn't need nor want it. I struggled in his grasp lazily, trying to command him to put me down.

"Stop squirming. You might hurt yourself more." He said sharply.

I flinched at his tone and slumped in defeat. I wrapped both my hands around his sturdy shoulders and rested my head on his built chest. I closed my eyes and listened to Thomas's heartbeat, which seemed to be getting faster and faster. I peeked one eye open and glanced at Thomas. His face was flushed and was trying to cover his face. It was probably from embarrassment. I sighed as we arrived at the nurse's office. He opened the door and set me on the mat. The school nurse ran in and started treating my wounds. Thomas stayed in the room, watching carefully over the nurse mending me. I eyed him, watching how he runs a nervous hand through his thick brown hair and how when he crosses his arms, his biceps flex. Also, how his glittering eyes seemed to hold true concern. I shook my head at the thought. Of course it wasn't concern, nobody's felt concern for me. It was most likely pity, like I thought earlier.

"There you are, all fixed up. How'd you get hurt anyway?" The nurse asked.

"Some kids-" Thomas started.

"I f-fell. T-thanks." I said quickly.

I walked out of the office and started walking down the hallway, keeping my head down like always.

"Hey! Newt, wait up!"

I turned around to see Thomas running after me. I groaned quietly and kept walking.

"W-what do y-you want?" I asked when he caught up to me.

"I was just wondering if you wanted to sit with me at lunch." He smiled kindly.

I stared at him in shock. Nobody has ever asked me to sit with them before. Must be some sort of trick. Letting me sit with them just so they can laugh at my way of speaking.

I gave Thomas an icy glare and kept walking. I shook my head when I heard his footsteps following me.

"G-go away." I growled.

"I didn't get an answer."

"N-no."

"Please?"
