"I got it, don't worry," I smiled faintly and went and opened the door.
"Fionna!" I heard the familiar, worrisome voice say.
"Cake!" I was grinning now Cake walked in, and looked over at my parents. Her jaw dropped.
"Fionna, baby. You found your parents?"
"Yeah." I nodded, smiling at them.
"Well, Fionna. I'm happy and all but Gumball needs you back in Aaa. Like, right now." Cake put her paws on her hips.
"Oh, well. Alright." I looked over at my parents apologetically and the only nodded. "I'll visit again. Promise." My mother only smiled, and I looked over to Marshall.
He picked up his umbrella and base-axe and we waved goodbye to my parents. Cake grabbed Marshall and I and we rushed back to Aaa.
She dropped us off at Gumball's castle and I looked at Marshall.
"Fi.. Whats wrong?" Marshall looked at me, his eyes scanning my face.
"Well, I'm just bummed I didn't get to spend that much time with my parents.. But I'm glad I saw them," I forced a small smile.
"It'll be okay. You'll see them again someday," Marshall reassures me.
"Yeah, lets just see what Gumball wants," I said, heading towards the main castle doors. Marshall held my hand as we walked into the castle.
"Fionna! Your finally back," Gumball walks towards Marshall and I and his face lights up. "Where have you been? You've been gone for weeks.. I started to get worried. I..", Gumball's gaze drops to Marshall and mine's hands.
"Is there anything else new?!" Gumball raises an eyebrow.
"Well actually.."
Marshall cut me off, "Why, yes, in fact there is something else new."
I took a deep breath, quickly shutting my mouth and letting them do the talking.
"Care to tell me what it is?" Gumball crossed his arms. He suddenly looked so.. Serious. Why does he even care?
"Well, only since you asked," Marshall smirked and Gumball kept his eyes on Marshall, "Fionna and I are dating." Marshall finished, pulling me closer to him.
Gumball's eyes widened. "No. Are you for real? Fionna, is this true?" Gumball turned towards me, his expression looked a little heart-broken and pained.
"Yes, it is," I looked up at Gumball, and he sighed.
"I don't think you two together is such a.. good idea, Fionna. What if he hurts you?"
"I wouldn't hurt her. Ever," Marshall said coldly, looking at Gumball.
"Well, what if you lost control of your blood thirst around her?" Gumball turned back to me, "What if, Fionna? I don't want you dead. I care about you too much. You're important to me. Please, don't be with a blood sucking monster like him." Gumball points to Marshall, who pretends to act offended.
"You can be with me, instead. I wouldn't hurt you."
A bitter laugh slipped past my lips. "Are you serious, Gumball? After years, you're just now liking me?"
"Fionna," he tried to speak.
I cut him off. "You can not do this to me. I used to like you, and you knew that. But you didn't care. And if you did, you sure didn't show it! You're just going to build me up all over again. It's like I'm ready to move on, and you suddenly like me? Just. No, Gumball." I felt my face heat up with anger and I pushed him away as I stormed out of the castle, sitting behind a tree. I felt hot tears stream down my cheeks and I made no effort in wiping them away. He's such a jerk.
Marshall appeared from the other side of the tree, his umbrella in hand. "Glob, are you alright? Gumball's such a wad."
"A gum-wad," I sighed, a smile etching itself onto my face. Marshall chuckled.
"Its alright Fionna. You know I'd never, ever hurt you. Right?" Marshall looked at me with a serious expression.
"I know."
"I love you, Fi." I heard Marshall whisper.
I felt my face heat up. Not with anger, but with slight surprise and I felt my heart flutter. I rest my head on his shoulder, not knowing what else to do.
"I love you too, Marshall."
