15 | Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater

It been about a month since Marshall Lee almost died. I haven't seen him for almost two weeks. At this point, I'm a little worried so I decide to head over to Marshall's place.

"I'm going over to Marshall's house for a bit. Be back later, Cake," I said to Cake before walking outside. I finally reached Marshall's house and knocked. No answer. I knocked again. Still no answer. I looked through a window that shows his living room. He wasn't there. I sighed and started to walk away.

But then I heard talking and laughter. I heard a female voice. I walked to where the voices were coming from and saw Marshall with a girl. She looked like a vampire too. She had dark, grey eyes and long brown hair. She looked beautiful.

"I have to go Marshy.." the girl bit her lip. 'Marshy?' That's what she calls him?

"Awe, do you really have to?" Marshall whined.

"Yeah.. sorry boo," she frowned. Boo? I was hiding in the bushes, surprised they hadn't seen or heard me sneak up.

"Awe, alright then.. Love you.", Marshall smiles.

"Love you more!", the girl giggled.

"Bye Devnee!" Marshall kissed the girl on the lips and she -no, 'Devnee'- kissed him back and flew away. I had tears in my eyes.

Marshall was cheating on me?

I burst from the bushes and slapped him in the face, hard.

"Ahh, my cheek meat!" He gasped and looked at me, "Fionna! What are you doing here?!"

"Oh, I just came to see you because you've been avoiding me for like, two weeks and now I know why. How could you cheat on me?" I let my angry tears stream down my face as I looked Marshall in the eyes.

"I.. Well.. I don't know.. I'm sorry, Fi.." Ugh, he can't even explain. He knew it was wrong. He knew he already had a girlfriend.

"Just.. Don't, Marshall. We're done. Have fun with Devnee." I ran away from him, tears streaming down my face.

I ran inside the tree fort.

"Fionna! What happened?! Why are you crying?!" Cake watched me as I curled up in a ball on the couch, sobbing.

"Marshall! He had another girlfriend.. He cheated on me."

Cake's expression went from worried to pure anger. "He what? I swear, I will snap his neck and-"

"No, Cake. Don't hurt him."

Cake looks at me, "Well, what did you do?"

"I slapped him.. Then I broke up with him.." I sat up and sniffled.

Cake wiped away my tears. "Awe, sug'. It'll be okay," Cake said sympathetically.

"Yeah," I managed to say.

"Oh, guess what! There's a new Prince around here. His name is Flame Prince. And, he's your age!" Cake practically sings.

I let out a weak laugh. "Alright, Cake. I get what your getting at. Hah, I'll try and hang out with him sometime soon." Doesn't she realize my heart is currently broken? She can't just go and set me up with other people already. Cake smiled. Of course, she had no idea what was running through my head. "I'm gonna go take a walk. I'll be back later, Cake."

Cake nodded and I walked outside. I stopped and saw Marshall Lee talking to 'Devnee.' I listened to them talking. I know its eavesdropping, but I had a good enough reason to.

"Listen, Devnee. I think we should break up." Marshall said.

"What? Why?" Devnee frowned.

"Its just that.. I love someone else.. I'm sorry. We can be friends though, right?"

She nods. "Yea, I understand. We can still be friends. Well, bye Marshall." Devnee kissed his cheek and flew off.

I started walking away and Marshall spotted me.

"Fionna!"

I ignore him and walk towards the river and I sit down on a big rock near the rushing water.

"Ouch..!" I hear someone say. I look around and see someone pulling their hand away from the water. I jumped off the rock and walked towards them.

"Ah, you alright?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. It's just the water.." the male points to the water. I walk closer to him and notice he's on fire.

"Are you.. Flame Prince?" I ask, suddenly shy.

"Yeah. Are you Fionna?"

"Yeah! How did you know my name?"

"Oh, your cat, Cake, talked to me just now."

I laughed. Of course she did.

"I heard about the whole vampire thing.. She told me that too," He managed a small smile.

"Oh." I frowned. That was unnecessary. 

"If someone like him is going to do that to a girl like you, he doesn't deserve you. I mean, you sound like you're such a radical girl and you should be treated better." He smiled and I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks.

"Oh. Thanks," I smiled.

"Wait, I want to try something.. Stay still." He started saying random words and quickly finished. "There. I used a spell to make you always be able to be around or close to me without you burning. A fire protection spell." he smiled.

"Oh, awesome, thanks." He smiled and I smiled back. "Hey, you wanna hang out sometime?" I asked, smiling.

He seemed like a really cool guy. And he was really nice. I think I was already beginning to like him.

"Sure!" he grinned.

"Awesome, well, I have to go.. Um, see you.. Tomorrow?"

"Sure. Bye," he smiled at me and I smiled back and walked away.

I saw Marshall hiding in the woods. I knew he was spying on me and Flame Prince. My happy expression fell when he saw me too. I saw him try to say something but I just ran back to the tree house.

If Marshall really loved me, he wouldn't have cheated on me and broken my heart. It was just as Flame Prince said.
