I woke up to the sound of tapping on my window. I slowly got out of bed and opened my window, letting Marshall fly in.
"Hey bunny."
"Hey Marshall. Hold on a sec, I'll be right back." I quickly grabbed a light blue shirt, and a dark blue skirt and ran into the bathroom. I came back out in my normal outfit and Marshall looked me up and down and I blushed.
"The color of your cheeks looks delicious." Marshall smirked as he floated in a circle around me. I pushed him away and laughed.
"Grab my hand." Marshall smiled and held out his hand. I grabbed his hand and we flew out of the tree fort. We had flown into the forest and he started to say something, but stopped. He loosened his grip on my hand and I fell to the ground. Thankfully, it was only a short drop. I hit the ground with a thump and looked around for Marshall. When I found him, I almost screamed.
Marshall had accidentally flown into a stick, almost like a stake, jutting out from a tree. I let out a shaky breath. This was going to hurt him, a lot.. I spun around and round-house kicked the stick out of the tree, causing the stick and Marshall to fall to the ground. I caught Marshall, almost dropping him.
"Marshall Lee.." I knelt down next to him and tears were streaming down my face. "M-Marshall you have to wake up.. This i-isn't funny anymore.." I realized he wasn't playing any jokes. "P-please.. You have to be okay.. I-I need you.." I pulled the large stick out of his chest, blood was pooling around him and was on my hands.
"Fionna.." he started.
"No, don't.. I'll get you help.. Cake can help you.. Just please stay alive," I sniffled and lifted Marshall off the ground and ran to the tree fort, it being closest place and burst into the living room with Marshall in my arms.
"CAKE, WE NEED HELP!" I yelled.
"Huh?" Cake then looked at Marshall and gasped.
"He got staked in the forest.. Please save him."
"On it!" Cake brings out her first aid kit and begins working. I waited in the other room.
-Time Skip-
"You can see him. He's alive, and better." Cake said with a small smile.
I ran into the living room and saw Marshall shirtless, with a bandage wrapped around where he was accidentally staked. "Marshall?" I made sure to see if he was awake or not.
"Hey, whats with the waterworks? Somebody die?" Marshall smiled weakly.
I didn't realize I was crying. I wiped away the tears and looked at him. "Thankfully, no. I'm so glad you're okay." I hugged him and he groaned. I pulled away quickly, not wanting to hurt him.
"Me too." Marshall smiled at me.
"I told you Cake would fix you up," I giggled.
"Yeah. It hurt. It actually hurt, really badly. But I'm fine now, so, yeah." he chuckled. I was glad he was better. I would be heartbroken without him. I smiled and we just sat there, smiling at each other.
"Hey, what were you going to say to me in the forest back there?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Oh, I.. Was going to mention that you shouldn't waste your time trying to help me." He avoided eye contact as he spoke, fixing his eyes on a spot on the wall.
"Never say that. It's not wasting my time. I needed you to be okay. I love you. I didn't want you dead. I'd be crazy without you.." I looked at him with a pained expression.
His face fell. "Oh, glob Fionna. I didn't know you cared that much." he smiled slightly. "I love you too." He smirked, and I felt myself smile.
I'm glad he loved me back.
