Safe Haven

Its new.

"It's okay Miss Singh. Aaryan was just helping his teacher." Lilly smiled as she saw the door open. "Ah, here they come."

"Hey little man."

"Mama!" The toddler exclaimed running over to Lilly. "Look what I drew." The little boy held up a picture of a house with a huge sun behind it.

"That's wonderful baby!" Lilly leaned down to give Aaryan a kiss on his forehead. Before adjusting his backpack. "Let's go home!" Lilly walked with her 4 year old son back to their apartment. On the way home, Lilly couldn't stop thinking about Aman and how he made her feel normal... it was all new... but she had to protect Aaryan and ultimately herself. Letting Aman into her life was a risk. And she didn't know if it's a risk she's willing to take.

"We're home." Lilly called out into her apartment. Anoshinie looked up at her and smiled.

"Oh hey little man." She greeted picking Aaryan up. When Aaryan was too busy playing with his figurines, Anoshinie turned to Lilly. "So, how's the date with Aman?"

"It wasn't a date!" Lilly replied with a smile on her face. "I gave him my number." She quickly turned away and went to Aaryan's room to avoid interrogation from her best friend. 

"Who's Aman?" Aaryan asked. His big brown eyes looking at Anoshinie.

"He's mama's friend." She replied. Ruffling his hair around. "Miss Lilly Singh I want to hear all about it tonight!"

Lilly grunted from the other room and Anoshinie, well she just laughed at her and continued playing with Aaryan.

Anoshinie's p.o.v

Everything in the afternoon went smoothly. Dinner was a little chaotic with Aaryan not wanting to eat the food we made. Lilly caved in and let him and cherrios with fruit loops. Its all about balance. Right? The both of us sat on the couch each holding a cup. Mine with tea and hers with honey water. "So, how was coffee?" I decided to bring it up. I saw the smile on her face and I haven't seen that smile in years....

"Well, for starters, no coffee happened. We both drank hot chocolates like adults."

"Oooooo and then?"

"We talked and talked and then I had to pick Aaryan up so I passed him my number and left...."

"Oh? Has he called? Or texted?" Lilly shook her head. "Don't worry about it baba I'm sure he will."

"I'm not worry Nanu. I actually don't care. Anyway it was fun while it lasted." She said looking at her feet. Leaning over I pulled her into a hug. Damn, this is new.

Lilly's p.o.v

Anoshinie and I headed to bed. I'm glad she was here with me even if it's for a short period of time. And extra pair of hands were helpful around the house. I got into bed and then my phone buzzed.

"Hey it's Aman. Thanks for today I had a great time."

My heart began to race and it was like I was a teenager again.

L: Hey Aman, I had a great time too.

Almost immediately, he replied:

A: I would love to do this again sometime if you would like....

L: I would love to. :)

A: good night Lilly.

L: good night Aman.

This was all new to me..breathe in and out. One day at a time Lilly one day at a time.
