Saturday night. I had to admit I was looking forward to my date with James. But I'm not planning on making him my boyfriend, this date is probably just a one time thing. Yes, I kinda like him but I can't date him, I can't be together with him. I'm the popular girl and he...he's the nerd. I can't and I won't date a nerd, even if he is as cute as James. Anyway I was wearing a dark blue, almost black, strapless dress, till just above the knee. Some lovely high heels and some beautiful jewelry. My hair was up. Makeup was done. I was ready to go. The doorbell rings. James. He's early. I went to open the door but to my surprise it wasn't James but "Logan?".

"I see you're ready to go to that party." He smiled. Darn it, I forgot to tell him I wasn't going. He took my hand leading me to his car.

"Logan, it's not what you think." He stopped in his tracks and turned to me. Confused. "I'm not going to that party."

"You're not? Than what's all this about?" He says pointing to my dress.

"I'm going on a date."

"A date? With who?"

"That's none of your business. He can be here any second so shoo. Go ask Luna to go with you." I pushed him to his car a little.

"You know we broke up, Joni."

"Than ask Kendall, I don't care, but I'm not going. Bye!" He finally got in his car and drove off. I went back inside, leaned against the wall and let out a deep sigh. I decided to watch some tv while waiting for James. The doorbell rings. 8 o'clock. Right on time. "Hey James." I say as I open the door.

"Hi." He smiles. "You look amazing."

"Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself. I love your bowtie."

"I can take it off if you want to."  He thinks I'm joking.

"No, it's really cute." He fixes his glasses to hide his red cheeks, it didn't really work.

"These are for you." He hands me the flowers he was holding.

"Thanks. I'm gonna put them in some water, grab my purse and we're ready to go." James nodded. I walked back out, locked the door and went with James.

"I know my car looks like crap compared to yours but-." I cut him off.

"You don't have to apologize for everything. Your car is just fine." We both smiled. He opened the door for me. He's a real gentlemen.

The date went great. We got to know each other even more. We laughed a lot. The food was great too. James has a good taste in restaurants.

We were back at my place, he walked me to the door. "I had fun tonight."

"Me too." I looked him right in the eyes, smiling. He took my hand in his. "I like you, Joni."

"James, I-" Is the only thing I managed to get out.

"I know, we're too...different. But I can't help it that my heart goes 1000 miles an hour when I just think of you." I was paralyzed. James started to lean in and I didn't back away.
