The next day...

I had been moved to the guard living quarters just before morning. The other guards kept staring at me, like I was some outcast. A girl came up to me and frowned.

" Why does the Prince think your so much better than us?It's not like you saved his life or something. Your not even of high social status." She said looking at me pitifully. " you don't know me either so what right do you have yo say things about me, but I do wonder why he thinks I am better than you. " the girl stared behind me wide eyed. " how many times do I have to tell you why your better than them." It was Prince Joy, he had followed me to the dining room. I stared at him really annoyed because he had followed me all night. " highness, how many times do I have to tell you? LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!" The room went quiet. Yelling at royalty had huge consequences, that I'd also forgotten. " Your not so amazing now are you?" She whispered in my ear. With a swift swipe of my hand I had her pinned to a wall. " you are really getting on my nerves . Ms. Crincer, you need to stop getting into others business, watch you manners." I looked her straight in the eye, she really didn't have muscle to be a guard. I held her arm up, " these arms are more fit for a maid than a guard." With that I walked out the door, outside the gates, and into the city.

It was around 8:30 p.m. , lanterns were being lit up and you could smell the food from the stalls. I had been walking around in my uniform when a woman ran up to me. " Ms! I need your help, I saw someone being mugged back there and there are sorcerers!" She said fear in her eyes. Sorcery was something rarely anybody new, because it was an ancient skill. Now it was used for bad things like what was going on now. She grabbed my arm. " Please help them! " she practically dragged me over to the crime seen. There was a young man about 15 in the back of the alleyway staring at two dark figures in front of him. I could see fire magic aura around their hands. They were willing to hurt someone for there own convenience. " Well what do we have here? Two magic users and a citizen. Well that isn't to much." i said and they turned back at me. One of them flung fire at me and i quickly used my shield to stop it. " Now then, we got a lady and a man, one's even a knight for the castle!" The other said chuckling. " This will be easy for us to handle." they said in unison. I unsheathed my sword and seven spirals of water came out and extinguished there flames. They seemed to be very surprised, they still thought that there was the lazy old guards and knights. unluckily for them none of the new guards were lazy either. I took a whistle out of my pocket and blew. A knight came down from a roof and took the citizen to safety. " Now what do i do with you two? Burn you, freeze you, or beat you to a pulp?" My eyes were gleaming as the lantern lights flickered. They didn't say a word, they just walked over to me and let me tie them up. " That wasn't one of the choices, but it will do. You should be able to speak to the the judge anyway." I said slightly saddened i didn't get to use my fist's.

I made my way toward the castle gates and felt a weird presents. As i walked through the gates I could hear footsteps coming up behind me. I quickly turned around and kicked them to the side, and you wouldn't guess who it was. The prince Joy, he just didn't know when to give up. " wait, I just needed to ask you to do a favor." He said looking up at me. The look on my face made me pity him. " okay, im listening Joy." An arrow whizzed past my face, i turned back and saw the girl from earlier. " Not using honorifics! You are dispicable, you even harmed him you good for nothing peasant." She screamed at me unsheathing her sword. This girl was so annoying, she didn't even think about how the prince would react. As she charged at me I used my shield and directed her to my left were i smacked the back of her neck knocking her out. " That should shut you up for at least an hour, I speak to whomever i want to, whenever i want." I said looking at her body. I kicked the sword away. " So anyway, what was it you wanted to ask me to do?" I said as i lifted her over my shoulder. " I would like you to teach the guards how to do patrols, well and night training." He said getting up and brushing off the dust. " No, that is the job that generals and their higher ups should teach them. I haven't done a single patrol since i came here. Don't expect me to know everything, it's only the first week." I didn't even look at him while i spoke. I started to walk away, but i turned to look at him. " Lighten up, you just didn't think to much, and don't worry i won't tell anyone." He didn't even look up as i turned into a shadow in the darkness.

" Your right i didn't even think." He muttered under his breath. Joy looked up to the starry night sky and sighed. He picked up the arrow that was near him and the sword. " I really wonder why she hates me so much." He said walking towards the guards storage. " Maybe because your annoying her, your always following her when from what i can see she just wants to be alone." A voice came from behind him, it was Nate holding a white rose. " Sorry, Nate, but i want her as my guard so i'm trying to get her to not despise me. I don't want her to hate me, that is something I couldn't bare." Joy said and kept on walking. He put the weapons into the storage and returned to his room.

I walked into the infirmary and laid her down on a bed. The head pharmacist stared at me amazed to see me again after seeing me as a patient here before. " Your that girl his highness brought in, so you really are a guard!" He said pushing his glasses back into place. "I've heard some rumors about you, they say you have no respect for royalty and call them by name with no honorifics." He said walking over to look at Ms.Crincer. He looked at her pitifully." I've heard some rumors about her too." he said looking at her now disgusted." I'm going to guess these aren't good rumors, or maybe even truths." I said beginning to walk out of the room. " You do realize Ms. Sinha that if you keep the act that your a Shining Opal brat not even one person will like you." He said as i closed the door behind me. I was not acting like a Shining Opal, I couldn't be that terrible. Of course there were two exceptions. The mother and her eldest child Amethyst, they had kind caring hearts no matter what happened. If anyone was acting like a Shining Opal brat it would be the Crincer girl. Always obsessing over the prince and order.

I made my way back to where the guard living quarters where. I saw a white rose sitting on the ground. This was the kingdom of the Black Roses, all of the earth kingdoms were named after the color of roses. Black roses are very rare and only bloom in this capitol city, because they are so rare and beautiful only the most beautiful can live in the capitol. It didn't matter if you were rich. You had to be beautiful. My stepfather wanted to make me so ugly that he beat me. That is one of the reasons i hate this kingdom and its beautiful princes. That is one of the reasons i hate Joy and Nate. But there are many reasons why i like them to. But I can't identify each one yet, each reason is like a little fragment of memories that are fuzzy. I opened my door and saw a letter on my bed, it was from Prince Joy.
