Chapter 14: Amnesia and Confessions

Jaspers POV
Ow... What the fuck happened?

I woke up with the biggest headache you could ever imagine. Not to mention my gem felt swollen (I know gems don't swell but bear with me ok).

I fluttered my eyes open slowly to see a bright light which was abusing my eyes. Remembering only little of what happened, I know I was in an accident.

"Am I dead?" I mumbled to myself.

"Not really." a voice spoke. The voice was familiar. It was also very light and sweet. (much like coffee)

"Rose...?" I said while sitting up.

"Yes Jasper?" she said.  I saw that she was over at her desk typing something on her computer quite fast.

"What happened last night?" I groaned while swinging my legs over to the side of the bed.

"You were in an accident." she said while typing away.

"Car?"

"Yep."

"Shit..." I rubbed my temples, feeling the aching beat at my pulse.

"Jasper you should know that alcohol is THE only human substance that can affect us." she shook her head in disappointment and sighed.

"That's why I drank it. To feel something."

"Alcohol does nothing except damage the human liver and numb your feelings, not cause it." she got up and walking over to me,  touching my head with the back of her hand.  Then she took the sides of my face and lightly touched my gem.

"Er- what are you doing Rose?" I said while lightly nudging her away.

"Checking your gem." she said while prodding it some more.

"Why?"

"Because you cracked it."

"WHAT?!" I yelled while bursting out of the bed and to the mirror. I startled Rose a bit from my outburst and she fell back with her rump hitting the bed.

Running to the mirror, I grabbed my gem as a form of protection. I slowly let go, looking close to the piece of glass that was my very being.

It wasn't cracked.

"Rose you said my gem was cracked!" I said in a state of panic.

"Was cracked." Rose emphasized on the word 'was' and got up.

"But it isn't cracked anymore."

"Darling there's a reason why I'm the school nurse." She looked at me with soft eyes and smiled. "I have healing tears Jasper. Long ago when I was a soldier, I needed this advantage because I got hurt quite a lot."

She touched my gem again and sighed.

"Rose, who brought me here?" I asked.

She furrowed her eyebrows as if she was thinking to herself. "um, well you kind of... Stumbled here. You ummm.. Had an accident right here by the tree and I... Took you in." she sounded unsure and a little secretive, as if she were forcing herself to lie.

"Rose are you lying to me?" I asked suspiciously.

She looked at me with guilty eyes but shook her head.

"I uh... I gotta go. I'll see you later OK? Thank you for everything." I took roses hand and brought it up to my lips, lighting kissing it. (jasprose shipper no shame)
