Type: Entreaty, Love
Deity: Venus
Origin: Roman
Ingredients: A full moon, three yards of violet ribbon, three small violet candles, three yards of white ribbon, three small white candles, a lock of hair trimmed during the sunset, rose oil
Ritual: This ritual is meant to be cast outside just as the North Star rises, right after sundown. Make a six pointed star with the two pieces of ribbon (two triangles, one on top of the other). Sprinkle your lock of hair with a few dashes of rose oil and place it in the centre of the star.
With the candles in your hands, kneel before the star and meditate on Venus, the love goddess, Queen of the North Star.
Speak to her in your own written words or follow this chant:
"Venus, lover of lovers,
whose gifts cheer the heart,
will you now a friend uncover,
who in romance takes my part,
a mate who loves unfettered,
and by the light my love is bettered.
So mote it be."Sending out your love and reverence to Venus, place each candle on one of the six points of the star and light them in a clockwise direction. Repeat the words and sit under the starlight for about an hour, sending forth your love to the universe. Pledge to cherish all new people you meet when this love is sent to you.
After an hour, take the ribbons and make a wrap securely around your lock of hair. Place this charm somewhere it can catch the moonlight, like a windowsill, and wait one moon cycle (28 days). After the next full moon you will be bestowed a worthy love.
