TREES

Oak: This tree was sacred to the ancient Druids, Scandinavians, Greeks and Romans. Call on it for protection against hexes and curses. Was believed to heal throat ailments and used to dress wounds.

Yew: As a symbol of fertility, it was believed that calling on the Yew tree could give you visions of your soulmate. Because of the trees longevity, it also symbolizes life after death and was traditionally used at grave sites. Call upon the Yew to access your inner intuition.

Elder: This tree was falsely used during the Witch trials to reveal all evil witches and sorcerers. People would grab a branch of this tree and burn it on Christmas Eve and the smoke was supposed to enter the homes of the damned.

Ash: Was used in salves for warts, but also protection against snakes - and evil spirits. Call upon the ash for courage and fortitude.

Birch: Traditionally used to make a witches broomstick. Call upon the Birch for strength, power and speed.

Rowan: More protection against evil spirits, dark magic and the Devil.

Apple: These tress were thought to bring about fertility and healing. It was believed that if you had an Apple tree in your yard and it became sick or malformed, it was an omen of death.

Willow: The willow tree symbolizes loss, grief and forsaken love. Call upon the willow tree for strength in times of hardships, for peace in times of war and for love at any time.

Fir: To ward away lightening and protect crops during a storm, fir would be burned as the clouds came rolling in. It was a symbol of constancy and fertility and women who called upon it would bear many children.
