In order to get the most out of your spellcraft, you must realize that it takes far more than spoken words and burning incense to invoke the powers of nature within you. The clearer your thoughts, the more concentration you bring to your sacred space, the more powerful your spells will be.

Magic is in all of us. But it is up to us to bring forth our intentions from deep within. A strong sacred space can be a source of inspiration and strength. When you create an altar for spellcraft, you'll want to imbue it with your essence. Pick items that are meaningful to you to adorn it; your favourite book, picture, poem, perhaps your birthstone, a favourite incense or scented candle.

Usually, your altar will face North, the direction of midnight and the source of primordial energy. A white cloth will cover its top, two candles can be placed in each top corner with your incense burner placed directly in the middle. You can keep your altar set up, or take it down and put it away after each use. However, a permanent altar that is well used will radiate its own energy field and may bring forth more potent magic.

I've used my favourite cabinet for an altar

I've used my favourite cabinet for an altar. It's inlayed with painted vines and flowers. I can keep my favourite items on top of the altar, but have go-to ingredients and tools stored inside of it. For example, my crystals would stay on top of my altar, but my incense, herbs, candles, runes and tarot cards remain hidden inside, but close by.

How you adorn your altar is up to you. Though you must be pleased with it and recognize how it is an extension of yourself for true spellcrafting.
