(RANDHIR)
Her dusky skin did not redden, neither did she tremble.
"Divorced?" he raised his own eyebrow.
She didn't answer.
Those dark eyes of hers were still focused on him, like dark hooks for the soul.
"You didn't answer my question" she pointed out. Her voice shook a little.
The smirk that curled his lips was involuntary
"You didn't answer mine" she shrugged.
"Don't mess with me." he offered, his tone blunt and offering no room for argument.
"I asked a polite question." she pouted.
"You should redefine your understanding of polite." he bit back "And try to stop pouting. It makes you look like a child"
"Why do I even bother talking to people?" she seemed to be talking more to herself then to him.
"Because you are the kind that wants attention. Because your parents didn't love you enough" he offers the truth, cold and cutting, and without mercy.
Her face is unreadable for a minute. Then she smiles. "Just as I had heard from the whispers. Randhir Singh Shekhawat. You don't disappoint."
He doesn't know what makes him smile back at her. "Vidushi Kumar. As much of a brat as I remember. Boarding school was a failure, wasn't it?"
"As much as it was for you, yes. I'd prefer it if we understood each other." Vidushi smirked "I don't want my past ruining my present. The same as you do."
"I share your feelings. That was why I did not talk to you. You started the conversation, remember?" Randhir sighed.
"I thought you might be glad to see another semi friendly face. I know I would" she stammered.
Randhir shook his head. As much as she wanted to be seen as a witch, Vidushi couldn't stop wanting to have people at her side. That was the difference between him and her . She needed people, he didn't.
"Why don't you make friends with your roommates?" he asked. That was ofcourse, an obvious question. You didn't need to be a genuis like Randhir to ask it.
"People always leave" she pointed out.
"I'm going to leave now Vidushi. I cannot bear with this cryptic talk. Either you want to be my friend or you are my enemy. There is no in-between."
"Wait. I need sometime. You know it is hard for me to trust people. Especially..." she bit her lip.
"I know. Which is why it is better for us to be strangers. " he offered no apologies.
She only nodded, her shoulders defeated.
He walked away, his hands in his pockets.
"Oye Shekhawat, who is going to protect you from all the fangirling eyes?" her voice sounded mischievous. But he knew her well enough. It was a plea for help.
He shook his head. So much for keeping that part of the past in his past.
"I thought we had an understanding Vidushi." he sighed.
"We do. I'll keep the fangirls away. You keep your mouth shut about my past." Vidushi didn't offer him her hand.
Their eyes were enough.
"Goodbye Kumar." his voice was practiced indifference.
"Bye Hottie!" she winked, another show she put on.
They didn't like to be messed with.
And forming an alliance was the best way to ensure it.
A/N: No, Vidhir are not a couple and never were. They have an understanding because of reasons. They've both come from Judgemental families and can understand each other well at times.
Vidushi is not going to be a witch here. Nor a jealous type.
