Here's an extra long chapter to make up for the late update.

Thank you for reading, commenting and telling me that you enjoy this story. It means a lot and gives me the motivation to write more.

I'd like to dedicate this to @Munmun5693. Girl I woke up uber late and finished this as fast as I could XD. Mom is not happy about the 3am staying up thing but let's do this again!

Two weeks went by in a flurry of classes, confusion and small bursts of clarity. As they began to get a taste of the basics of engineering, the euphoria of I got into this amazing and highly reputed college slowly gave way to panic and frustration.

But it differed from student to student. And from teacher to teacher.

Most of the back benchers slept through the morning lectures and often were yelled at by PKC for the same. Ranawat Sir did not give a damn about the portion or who was sleeping in his class. With a hip flask and disheveled hair, he looked more or less like a last year student himself. Uncanny and slightly more crazier about innovation than Vardhan Sir was, Abhay Ranawat Sir's classes might have made parents raise their brows and their voices. He took perseverance to an extreme that Vardhan Sir called insanity. Nevertheless, the two professors often ensured that their lessons and required reading was complementary.

"They are working on the Dream Team together. I mean Prof. Ranawat didn't want to, he prefers his whiskey to teaching firsties additional DT work. But VD sir called in favor" A male senior from Mechanics told Sanyukta. The senior winked at her "You planning to join the DT?"

Sanyukta nodded, "Is it hard though?"

"Not really. I mean if you ensure you don't make basic mistakes and have the common sense to apply whatever you've learnt so far, you should be alright." The senior puffed up his chest "I'm only in my third year and our work is coming up pretty well. It's time consuming and will push you harder than the regular course work. You won't have time to have a life I swear. My girlfriend is on the team too. She keeps threatening to break up with me if I use DT time as date time." He grinned "But it's worth it."

Sanyukta smiled back. This senior wasn't trying to flirt or anything. He was just nice. "I don't know your name."

"Namit Saxena." He grinned "But don't tell the teachers you know me or something. They'll start watching out for you to disturb the class with insane pranks. I can tell you are a trouble maker by the way. Your eyes give you away."

"I'm Sanyukta. And speaking of pranks, what is up with that guy who calls himself Yoyo? Is he a fan of Honey Singh or something?" she raised a brow "I've heard he failed twice. So he must have been in your year?"

Namit nodded. "He's a character isn't he? Tanu, that's my girlfriend by the way" he waved over a curvy woman "Tell her about Yoyo and how he tried to hit on you."

Tanu had Sanyukta laughing in spite of herself.

"Sanyukta, right? Don't worry about the DT. As long as you aren't deliberately stupid you'll get in" Tanu hit Namit's shoulder playfully "This one is an exception."

"Thank you. I'd better be going. VD sir's class is next. He said he'll start eliminating candidates now." Sanyukta nodded, waving cordially to her seniors.

Appearances and networking was what made the world go round. She'd had it hammered into her head since she was a child. She'd been told to look pretty and be polite, even if the person in front of her was a bigoted asshole. It was a relief coming to FITE. To be herself, grease on her hands and a spanner in her pocket. No one to tell her to act like a proper girl should. Having no one to yell at her for getting her clothes dirty. Yes, Vidushi did tell her off a bit and made her wear an apron of sorts when she did any work involving grease.
