It all started August 21st, 2012.

"Leave me alone." I whine storming into my room and slamming it behind me. I collapse onto my bed and take a deep breath and close my eyes. Please no one come in my room. I'm tired of being watched as if I'm going to hurt myself any second. I close my eyes and enjoy the silence.. While it lasted for thirty seconds.

My door opens and right away I could tell it was Riker by how he didn't knock. I roll onto my side avoiding his presence. "Rydel, you just got home. You can't go straight into your room, we've haven't even talked to each other since.." His breath gets caught in his throat. I could tell he was trying to not start crying. I sit up and look at him.

"Riker, I'm not the same eighteen year old you knew. I've grown, I've changed." Being the fact that I'm now nineteen. "I am not going back down that rough path again." I try to convince him. He looks at me as if he doesn't believe me. I grab his hand and look into his eyes. "I promise, I won't again. I promise. Trust me." He stares at me for a few seconds before reacting. He pulls me off the bed into a hug.

"Have you seen your gift yet?" He asks me suddenly. What? I have a gift? After a year of no communication whatsoever with my family, being locked up, I come home to a present? They're probably just doing this because so I don't do it.. Again. I shake my head at Riker and he grabs my hand and walks to my closet and stares at me. "Open your closet." He orders. Okay?

I open my closet door expecting to find no clothes left. Everything is still in its place. Except there's something covered up by a blanket. Probably just going to be a empty box for a joke. I remove the blanket and my jaw drops.

It's a freaking vinyl player.

I look at Riker in shock to say anything

I look at Riker in shock to say anything. "I've read that music is addictive like drugs are. I thought music would be better for you then that." Riker smiles. I pull him into a hug saying thank you over and over again. I've always thought record players seemed pretty awesome.

The next day, I went to the magical place called Jamie's Jams. I've heard of it before but I never been in here until now. Riker drops me off (I'm not trusted with driving by myself yet), and I walk quickly into the store my heart beating fast. Right away, a smile grows across my face.

All the walls had shelves of vinyls. I've never seen such a beautiful sight. In the middle of the store, there's record players ready to test them out. I rush to the shelves and start looking for vinyls to listen to and buy.

Suddenly, I stop when I hear someone singing

Suddenly, I stop when I hear someone singing. I turn around to see a guy, probably around my age, with a vinyl playing. "We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine." He was smiling to himself singing as quietly as he could. Luckily, I could hear him. He's kinda cute with his brown eyes and his hair, his dimples.

Suddenly, he looks up and our eyes meet from across the room I right away felt my cheeks burn and I spin around looking back at the vinyls. My eyes landed on the Neon Trees song Sins Of My Youth. I love Neon Trees. I take the case and walk up to a record player and place the vinyl in and press play.

These are the sins of my youth. I started humming to it and took the song in. I slightly bob my head to the rhythm and look to see that the guy was watching me. His brown eyes were melting into mine and my breath caught in my throat.

He was holding a Stevie Wonder vinyl. I could read on the cover it was the song Superstition. His eyes landed on my vinyl as if doing the same thing I was doing. What should I do? Should I say "hey I know that song"? No, that'd be weird. "Ellington!" A older woman says making him stop looking at me. That must be his name.

Ellington. That name sounds beautiful. It sounds like it just flows through your mouth as you say it. He doesn't notice how I watch him go out the door.

He also doesn't know how I noticed him look at me as he walked out.
