Four's POV
She chose Dauntless. She actually chose Dauntless! No offence to her, but I didn't think she had the guts. She looks like the kind of girl you'd see in the dull, Abnegation grey. I don't know why, but I'm happier then I should be that she can be friends with us. It's not that I'm just attracted to her; I'm intrigued by her. I think she does have a lot of secrets and that it will take a lot of time and chipping away to get them out of her. Maybe if I'm willing to make them time, I can get to know the real her. I mean, she's just joined the school - she needs people that she can trust.
Soon after Tris chose her faction, the bell went and we made our way to Gym class. After I got changed and made my way to the Combat Room with Will, Zeke, and Uriah, I noticed the girls start to walk in. And guess who was among them. Tris. Crap.
Christina and Tris walked over to us, pulling away from the likes of Lauren and her crew. Tris looked almost relieved as Christina shoved her in our direction. Christina had a look on her face that indicated she was ten seconds away from going on a killing spree, while Tris had a heavy flush engraved into her cheeks. When they finally got to us, Chris' head looked like it was about to explode off of her shoulders. Will cautiously went over to her and placed a tentative hand on her shoulder.
"I hate that girl!" Chris hissed, sending a death glare into the back of Lauren's shaved head.
"Why, what has she done now?" Uriah asked, obviously confused.
"She-!"
"Chris..." Tris cut her off, sending her a worried look. I could, for some reason, feel the anger bubbling in my stomach.
"She barged into Tris after we got changed. Tris fell back and hit her head on the bench and they just stood there and laughed at her!" Christina huffed before turning back to Lauren and mumbling, "I'll give her something to laugh about when I get my hands around her neck."
"I'm fine." Tris spoke quietly, clearly embarrassed by what happened.
"I hate her! Don't you hate her?!" Christina exclaimed, staring at Tris in astonishment.
"I think Lauren hates Tris more than Tris could ever hate her." Zeke chuckles dryly. The corners of Tris' mouth twitch up slightly at his remark, but she was still staring at the floor as if it held all of the answers to her problems.
"I can talk to her." I offered, causing Uriah to laugh.
"Yeah, Four will talk to her and she'll realise he's sticking up for Tris, causing her to go into one of her psycho-frenzies." Uriah laughs. "Although, Lauren is so far up Four's a-"
"Okay, class. Let's get the lesson started." Armar yells, cutting Uriah off at the perfect time. I smirk and get in line, like everyone one else in class. "Okay, listen up! Our new class member, Tris," I watch as Tris bows her head cutely and blushes deeply, "has the fortune of taking part in our new activity - combat and self defence." I can't help the smile that engraves itself onto my face. I've been wanting to do this part of Gym for the past three years. "However, there are some rules. Everything taught in this lesson isn't to be used on anyone outside of this room unless completely necessary. If you do attack anyone, you will be immediately suspended from school. Also, this is only basic training, so if anyone get seriously injured severely in this lesson by another student, there will be serious consequences. Got it?" Everyone nods. "Good. For starters, partner up." My eyes immediately find Tris', but Christina grabs her arm and hurries her away before I can open my mouth.
"Looks like it's just me and you, Four" Zeke says smirking at me. Oh no! I was staring. I was staring at Tris as she retreated with Christina. Zeke saw me and by the look on his face, he wasn't going to let it go either. I felt a large rush of warmth fill my cheeks too, I was blushing! Four never blushes- especially in front of people like Zeke.
"O-okay." I manage to stutter out, trying to hide my embarrassment. However, this only caused Zeke's smirk to grow larger. This is going to be a long lesson.
