Tris' POV
Christina dragged me across the dusty gym room, holding my arms tightly to her side. I'm surprised that we have become this close, this quickly. At my old school, it had taken me months before I had even been able to speak to someone. Caleb however, he had always been the one to exude confidence. It was almost always mistaken for arrogance though, I guess that's why he's formed all of these enemies so quickly. I don't know what's going on, but from the way that Christina had described it; it was something big.
"Tris! Triiiiisssss" whined Christina. It had come to my attention that the one thing Christina lacked was patience. She had the looks and personality; no patience for anything though.
"What now, Chris?" I asked.
"I'm going to punch her right in the face today, and I'm going to enjoy it." She was smiling evilly and it wasn't until I followed her line of sight when it landed upon something I had a strong hatred for too. Lauren.
Christina was right, this lesson would be fun if we were paired against her. A chance to redeem myself. I don't know where these thoughts had been coming from, I liked it though. Maybe dauntless was made for me. I guess I'll figure that out in time. I don't want to be changed like Lauren, I wouldn't forgive myself.
"Right everyone, today we will be learning how to punch and kick with great power and accuracy." Amar began. "You'll never know in life when it can come in handy, so we need you to be prepared."
"Oh, I'll be prepared alright. Prepared to kick Lauren's face in." Said Christina.
"I want you to start practicing with your partners before we go into fights," Amar announced, turning away to talk to Zeke and Four about something.
"Okay, try hitting me so I can block you," Christina ordered, leaving me slightly taken back.
"Wait, what?" I asked, confused.
"Hit. Me." She said again, becoming inpatient. I sighed, moving to punch her arm lightly. She looked from her arm to me and then back to her arm. "What was that?"
"A punch," I replied shyly.
"No," she countered, lifting her arm and smashing her fist into my shoulder, pain erupting from the blow. "That's a punch."
"Ow!" I exclaimed, glaring at her.
"Hit me like you mean it," she challenged. I stepped into a stance, ready to hit her as hard as I possibly could. I aimed for her stomach, but she quickly blocked it. I then aimed for her chest, but she was too quick. Finally, I thought I'd trick her. I sent a punch to her shoulder, which she blocked, but then I sent an elbow to her face, connecting it with her nose.
She fell to the floor, crying out in pain as blood spurted all over the floor. I gasped in shock and quickly sank down on my knees to try and help her. I couldn't believe I'd actually done that. How could I do that to my new friend? I'm such a horrible person.
"Chris! Christina! I'm so sorry! It was an accident! I never meant to-!"
"Tris," Amar called from across the room making his way over to me with Four and Zeke on his trail. When he finally got to us, he looked between me and Christina, Chris for some reason had a small smile on her face. "Nice hit," he finally said, patting me on the shoulder. "Zeke! Take Christina to the nurse. Four! Help Tris get ready to fight."
