Janice and I started to walk to the school's Oak tree. I tried to observe everything as quickly as I can every step of the way. "Are there any popular people here?" I ask, still observing everything. "Yep. Only one though. They're called the Renegades. They are absolutely admiring and beautiful."
"Wow.." I say looking at Janice. We both finally reached the Oak tree. It was taller than the school itself. "Hey girls!" Janice said, waving to the two girls under the tree. One waved. We both got to the tree to meet the girls. "Who's that?" One said, pointing at me, chewing gum. "Her name is Faith. She's news here. I was wanting to know if I can let her in with us," Janice said, putting her arm around my neck and her other arm on her hip. "Well, you're the leader. Whatever you want," The other girl said. I had no clue of what they were talking about. "Alright. See you girls at lunch."
Then, the school bell rung. "Well, we're tardy. Wanna come to class with me?" Janice asked. "Would I get in trouble?" I ask. "No, plus if you do, I'll take the blame," Janice replies, holding my shoulder. I nod, and follow Janice to class. Yay, it was Math. Just. Yay.
"Oh, hello. Might you be Faith?" The teacher asked me. I nod. To be honest, the Math teacher was really pretty and nice. She had long brunette hair, mostly down to her shoulders. She had light blue eyes, and was wearing a blue dress. "Well, you may sit next to.." The teachers replies, looking around the room. "Lucas," The teacher says, pointing to the boy. It was the hot one. I smiled at him, and he smiled back. "I'm Ms.Young, by the way."
I walk over to Lucas, and sit down. I sat my backpack down by my feet. "Nice shirt. I love Markiplier," Lucas whispered, as he looked at the white board for today's lesson. I look at my shirt, remembering it was Markiplier and Tiny box tim. "Thanks.." I whisper back, putting my hands in my lap. He nods. "I'm Lucas, you?" He asked, holding out his hand. "Faith.." I reply. "Faith? Nice name. I saw you hanging out with Janice on the bus. You do know that—" Lucas was about to say, until Ms.Young interjected the pleasant conversation. "Today's lesson will go on until 11:30, then it'll be Lunch. Open your books to page 87 and do Lesson 5."
Ms.Young then left the room to talk to the other teachers. "So Lucas, how are you?" I ask, trying to be as calm as possible. "Good, good." Time had passed, and it was 11:30. I grabbed my textbook and sprinted out of the classroom, to where I could catch up to Janice. "Hey!" I say, smiling. She waves and smiles. "During lunch, do you mind if we talk about Smoky more?" I ask, gripping onto my textbook. "Sure," She replies. Once we reached the lunchroom, I noticed how large it was compared to Florida's. This lunchroom had a white marble floor, blue painted brick walls, with a printing saying "Smoky Hill!". The tables were round with seats of 4. I saw the two girls we met this morning, at a lunch table. Janice and I hurried over to the table, and we sat down. "Hey girls,"Janice said, smiling and throwing her backpack on the table.
"So, Faith. Do you have prettier clothes than that?" The girl on my left asked. I nodded. "I just dress casual on the first day," I explain. "Alright. My names Sandy. This girl on my right is named Gloria. She doesn't talk that much," Sandy explained. "Do you guys eat at lunch at all?" I ask, thinking it sounded better in my head. "Sometimes. Otherwise we just aren't hungry," Sandy answered. As the three girls started talking like normal to each other, I looked around. I saw Lucas in a crowd of boys pushing each other and making puns. He's so cool.
At the corner of my eye, I spotted Janice looking at Lucas, smiling. I shrugged, and got up and swung my backpack over my shoulder. "Where you going?" Janice asked, looking back at me. "Just going to get a head start to class," I tell Janice. But of course I was lying. She nodded, and went back to talking with Sandy and Gloria. I went out of the lunchroom, and into the girls bathroom which was closest to class. I dropped my backpack near the sink, and looked in the mirror. "Does Janice like Lucas? Cause I like him.. Stop, Faith.. I'm over–thinking right now," I say, splashing water on my face. Then, I heard the bathroom door creek open. I looked back as I washed my face off. Between the brick barrier of whomever came in and I, I heard sobbing. Then I saw a backpack be thrown to the wall beside me.
I slowly crept over behind the barrier of us, and I saw a teenager sitting down, against the wall. She was covering her eyes, and I saw glasses beside her. She must have glasses. She had brunette hair that was down to her back and it was curly. She was wearing a plaid T-Shirt that was red, with jeans. Her shoes were white vans. "Are you alright?" I ask her, bending down to her. She looked over at me, and she had tears streaming down her face. She was choking back on tears, so all she could do were make actions.
She shook her head. I sat beside her. "What's the matter?" I ask. She wiped her tears away on her sleeve, and she looked over at me. "Smoky Hill sucks! I hate it! Bullies are everywhere and I don't understand why they just can't be nice!" She said, yelling at the top of her lungs. "Hey," I say, placing my hand on her shoulder. "It's alright. People are just jealous of how beautiful and caring you are, so they go after you. Don't go down because of words, alright? Words can never hurt you. Well, unless you get a dictionary thrown at you," I laugh, telling the girl. The girl laughs too, and stops crying. "You know, there's not many people in the world like you," The girl tells me, smiling. I smile back. "Yes there is. You, silly," I say, standing up. "What's your name?" I ask. "Grace. Who are you?" She replies. "I'm Faith. I love your name," I reply, helping her up and giving her backpack to her. "Thank you.. I don't have friends, so I'm sorry if I yelled before," She apologized. "It's alright! And you do have a friend." "Who?" "Me."
