Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Run. Run, Run. Normal, Normal, Normal. I kept repeating in my head, trying not to run to fast, fast enough to be the one of the first done, but not enough to notice.
When I finished running all three milles I drank some water, then I sat down on my designated spot and waited until everyone finished.
I smiled, Kim had finished. "How is it..... That you can run..... Three miles, very ......fast, and not ....get tired....I’m huffing my brains out." she said breathing
I smiled, "it’s easy like I’ve said before."
She nodded, "but why aren’t you first?" she asked me curiously.
I simply smiled, "I find no point in being first, and then people will expect more of me." I stated nonchalantly as my Physical Education teacher came up to me.
"Hey Mr. Smith" I said with fake enthusiasm.
He smiled, "Miss Johnson did I just hear that you don’t try while running my miles."
I scowled at Kim. But kept a serious expression as I turned to Mr. Smith. "I try, just not enough to get me tired."
He smiled, a scary smile, somehow I knew I would regret saying anything. He directed the class.
"It seems like we still have half an hour of class left. You will all run three more miles, thanks to Miss Johnson. Now start" he said walking away.
The whole class said
"Awwwwwwww!"
And "bbbooooooooo"
But it’s not like we could say much else. But I got an idea, "Mr. smith. If you want to see just how fast I run why can’t we race. You and I" I said standing up and brushing the dirt off of my shorts.
He slowly turned to me. "Ok then, we will. Class sit down."
They all cheered and sat down.
"What’s your best time Mr. Smith?" Kim asked.
He smiled "four twenty seven per mile" he said smugly.
I almost laughed. I knew I could pass that.
He stretched will I stood there and looked at him. He looked about twenty four, good looking. Shot blond hair, light green eyes. I was going to feel bad after beating his but.
"Aren’t you going to stretch?" Kim asked me worriedly.
I smiled, "nah, I just ran three miles, that’s enough stretching."
She giggled "good luck"
I nodded and walked to the starting line. Mr. Smith soon followed.
He god into a running position while I stood there awkwardly. Then a student yelled go!
I giggled when I heard the student but saw that Mr. Smith had already started running.
"Run Emma Run!" Kim, and a couple other students yelled. I smiled and began running. At a pretty fast speed. But not a noticeably super-fast speed.
I caught up to Mr. Smith after the first lap, trying not to make it obvious. But I quickly passed him, people cheered me on, I could tell that Mr. Smith was a little surprised. He started running faster.
I kept my pace, never running faster.
After the first two miles Mr. Smith got tired. I was a lap ahead. I stopped near him.
