Ch 23: Leaving soon.

“The worst thing you can do for love is deny it; so when you find that special someone, don't let anyone or anything to get in your way.”

"Does it hurt?" I asked Edward one day during sixth period. He was sitting near me again, we had a sub, again. 

"Does what hurt?" he asked me confused. 

I had been ignoring him this whole time, this is the first time we speak. Or the first time I initiate the conversation

"Leaving your soul mate?"  

A smile appeared on his face. "You’ve finally decided to give up on him?" he asked me with disbelief. 

I shrugged. I had nothing to say, if he didn’t want to be with me then there was nothing I could do about it. 

"I guess" 

"That’s good, now we can be together." he said still smiling. 

I scowled "just because I’m not with joseph does not mean I will go back to you." I said angry. 

He continued to smile which was started irritating me. "With time, you will realize we were meant to be."  

I scowled again "does it hurt or not?" I asked slightly irritated. 

He looked away as if thinking about it. "For us vampires, sometimes. If you really love your mate, like you do, then the separation can leave you feeling alone and depressed, you must first admit to yourself that you don’t love him. For me, I didn’t love her so I felt nothing. 

And for the humans, we can simply erase their memories, they won’t feel a thing. But it’s hard. With all those emotions and memories, well it’s hard to do unless you have their full support and agreement." 

He turned to me with a serious expression. "But since he's already this afraid you that he won’t even come to school for fear of seeing you, you'd be better off just leaving without seeing him. You might scare him more."  

It scared me how serious he sounded. 

"I’m leaving tomorrow Edward. It was nice seeing you again, but honestly I hope I never see you again." I said  

He smiled "you will" 

I scowled "I hope not" 

"You will though" he said standing up.

I scowled and walked out of school. 

Kim was waiting right outside of school.  

"Have you thought about it?" she asked me. 

"I have" I said walking home. 

She followed me, "and?" she said 

I smiled, "and I have to do something. I’ll talk to you later. Be there by five." 

I said running away. I stopped about twenty feet away, she was standing there alone amazed. 

I chuckled. Leave it to Kim to take this news way too happily. 

I went to a secrete room for vampires, I had to buy a gallon of blood, and some other things I was going to need

"Ok" I said sighing. "I’m sorry if it hurts." I cut my wrist and poured the blood into a cup.  

I laid Kim doing on the bed. "Relax." I said. 

I sat down next to her. I bent my head over her neck. I heard her sigh, I focused on her breathing as I bit down on her neck. 

The more blood I consumed, the more relaxed she became. When I was finished I felt full. 

I looked down at her motionless body. Her heart beat was faint. I grabbed the cup full of my blood and brought it to her lips. I shook her. 

"Kim, drink this." 

She opened her eyes briefly.  

She began drinking the flood until she was fully able to hold the cup and drink it on her own. 

I left her on the bed alone after that, knowing she needed a break. 

I went to my guest room and sleep there.
