Angelica's POV
Luc just asked for his first dose of caffeine this afternoon and I'm on my way to give it to him. He has been nothing but civil to me for the duration of my employment and stay at his house. However, he ignored my request regarding the twins. He continually treats them as if they were his own. I didn't bother acknowledging the playground he had his staff put in the garden or the new gaming facilities in his recreation slash entertainment room. It was pretty obvious it was for the twins' benefit. Questioning him about it would put me in a very difficult and awkward situation.
When I entered his office, he was massaging his own head. "Sir, your coffee is here," I said quietly. I almost regret getting inside his office. I put the coffee next to the papers he had on his desk. "Sir, I would also like to inform you of my leave tomorrow. The children have an activity for family day the parent's attendance is required."
He looked up with a frown on his handsome face. "You are going alone?" he asked incredulously. I nodded slowly, bothered by his reaction. "Cancel my appointments tomorrow. I am going with you."
What the hell did he just say? He was going with me? "Sir, you have a meeting with the department heads tomorrow. It has been rescheduled twice already. You also have a lunch meeting with the chairman for the children's charity which you sponsor for the next fund raising activity. It was given top priority."
"All those can be rescheduled. The twins' school activity cannot. Are you saying my meetings are more important than the children's activity at school?" he asked, raising an attractively thick brow. He put both hands and put it under his chin. With the way he stared at me, it seems as if there is no right answer to his question. As the saying goes, damned if you do, damned if you don't.
"Sir, Alyssa and Lucas are not your responsibility. I appreciate the way you don't think of them as a nuisance, but again, I would prefer it if they don't get too attached to you. I'm sure we'll get by tomorrow somehow, even if we're lacking one parent." I tried not to cringe with my own words. But I can't really cover up the reality that my children have only one parent.
The way he was staring, I couldn't help but feel he knew something. "But you cannot argue the fact that one way or another, my presence there would make things easier. I will not argue with you anymore. I will go with you tomorrow, end of discussion."
I nodded, tired of arguing with him. There's no point arguing if he wasn't willing to listen.
