We find ourselves lost, sad and empty. All wondering what's outside these shelters' doors. Its been days since we've seen the sun or felt the sunlight against our skin. Since we even had a breath of fresh air.

The time has passed so fast being in this shelter, minutes turned into hours and hours turned into days. We stand here waiting... Not sure of what's waiting for us on the other side. Scared of what our futures may hold.

We all have agreed upon a plan, most of which is up to Johnathan and I, to do.

Everyone trust us to lead them to safety. But honestly we have no idea what that even mean. As long as the memwards are in control there is no such thing as safe, at least not for us, the rebels.Who knows what will happen once we open these doors.

"It's now or never" Johnathan says trying to boost everyone's sprits. He can clearly tell that everyone is drained, and scared.

He takes a deep breath and opens the doors. The doors squeak as they fling open. The midnight air rushes through the doors making everyone step back from the doors, they are frozen by the air.

Alice feels a cold shiver run down her back, as she stares motionless in the doorway. She can feel something is wrong, she knows it.

"Close the doors now!" Alice screams as she pushes the doors close.

AND THEN IT HAPPENS... She feels her body hits the floor and can see Johnathan who was just standing by her, across the room.

She see everyone moaning with pain, blood everywhere. She sees Sam takes his last breath, his eyes fixated on the ceiling above, motionless.

She can feel her body burning, as if it's on fire. She can hear a man voice talking around her. She smells flesh and hair burning, the smell so strong she can taste it. The air is thick and smoky choking her as she breathes.

Her eyes begin to close as she see Johnathan crawl to her side, reaching out for her hand. She wants to reach out for his but cannot make herself move.

Her body aches from the blow to the ground, her heart beating slow as if at any moment it will stop. For a moment she wishes it would stop, just to end her pain and all the moans that echo in her ears.

Johnathan reaches out for her hand, trying to let her know he's there, right by her. He can feel her pain, stronger than his own. His teeth chatter from their pain, unable to talk, he wants to tell Alice he loves her but cannot. Their fingertips touch, just enough in this moment to assure Johnathan everything will be okay.

He looks around wondering what possibly could of happened. Mad at the world, wondering why they never even got a chance to step out of the underground shelters doorway.

He thought to himself what could I've done to protect Alice. He feels himself slipping away into sleep, but he fights it off for as long as possible, giving himself more time to look at Alice. Unsure whether this whole situation is actually happening. Johnathan starts to feel someone grab his ankles just as he drifts off to sleep.

Alice and Johnathan awake laying in beds side by side it appears as though their in Elm hospital. The windows and trim around the room all resemble the hospital. The windows are oddly shaped, all different from the next. None of the windows is an exact shape, none are round nor square but all a ridged uneven shape. The trim around the walls are black and a hint of blue under tones can be seen reflecting in the sunlight.

Black always reminds Johnathan of his mother's death. Mainly because at her funeral no one wore black. All saying that her death is just her life carrying on in a better place. But for him it was her life ending, taken away from him. So on the day of the funeral he, the only one, wore black.

Alice awake handcuffed to her bed's side rail. Her vision blurry from her throbbing head ache. She looks around the room searching for someone to ask questions to, but finds no one.

She can hear someone moaning behind the curtain that seperates her and the next patient. It sounds like some one she knows, Johnathan Marshall.

"Johnathan is that you, are you alright? Do you know where we are? Where the other students are? Do you know what day is it? Is we, alive?" Alice asks looking up to the ceiling.

"Alice we are in Elm hospital, I am fine I cannot answer the rest of your questions because I am unsure as well." Johnathan says answering Alice.

"Johnathan are you strong enough to come next to me I am handcuffed to the side rail of my bed." Alice says

"I am not handcuffed but tired I'll go to sleep for a moment and then I'll go to you". Johnathan says.

Alice knows something wasn't right with Johnathan's response. Inspite of being handcuffed to the bed she stands up out the bed and rolls the bed with her as she limps around the curtain that seperates her and Johnathan, to see him.

She sees how bruised Johnathan is and can see in his face how much pain his in. He grinds his teeth as he lay there with his eyes closed. He appeared to have had surgery on his head. She can see his hair shaved on the right side and black stitches holding his skin together. She sees his leg casted and his arm in a sling. She thinks to herself about his response to her question about him being alright, he answered fine.

"Johnathan.. Oh my god, you're not fine are you?" Alice asks looking at Johnathan's face, with tears running down her face.

"Don't worry Alice I'll be fine" Johnathan says sleepily.

"He is under alot of pain medications right now, so he's kinda out off it. when we brought him in we thought he wasn't going to make it. But he did and soon as he woke up he begged us to put him in the same room as you." A nurse said as she entered the room.

"What happened and where is the other students, how did we get here?" Alice asks looking at her hands that have been wrapped up because of burns on her hands.

"The EMT folks said you guys was the only one in the shelter, apparently some kind of explosion took place". The nurse answered.

"What no I saw the other students laying on the ground bleeding and in pain. We wasn't the only people down there in the shelters". Alice says frantically

"I saw Sam die right on front of me. We was not.. We wasn't". Alice continues.

"Calm down it's your mind playing tricks on you, this is very typical for patients who had a severve traumatic experience, just as you did to see and believe unreal things. Just calm down". The nuse says

Alice looks at Johnathan, to back her up but his asleep. Dreaming of the two of them away from Elmville, happy, holding hands just like they did when they was young.

What's happening? Where did the other students go?
