Today is Friday September 21, 2102. Johnathan is not doing so well he's constantly sleeping and always in pain. I worry about him, alot. Wondering what would I do with out him. And thinking about our plan that Tuesday night.

It's funny how my brain chooses to remember somethings and forget others. Mainly because I don't remember our plan that night. But I do remember Johnathan reaching out for my hand. I remember seeing everyone there dying all around me, pieces of the shelter all on the ground, some people crushed under pieces of the roof. Bodies all disfigured and unable to be recognize.

Sometimes when Johnathan is asleep, I watch him making sure his chest moves up and down. I notice how he would grab the sheets in his fist when he's in pain. And how he would roll his eyes in his sleep as he dreams. I wonder sometimes what he dreams of hoping he's not having nightmares.

I also see, how he would sometimes open his eyes and look at me making sure I'm still there.

It's now 8 P.m. and I'm laying in my bed trying to clear my mind, and I start hearing Johnathan call my name. "Alice, Alice, come here". Johnathan says sleepily

Alice now not handcuffed to her bed side rail, kindly walks around the curtain. "Yes" Alice says happily. She haven't heard his voice in days, but to her it felt like an eternity. She's missed how he pronounces her name. He always say her name like It's the first time he ever said her name. He always add emphases on the A in her name, as if he's making sure he's saying it correctly.

"I miss you, can you lay down next to me". Johnathan says unaware of what he's saying. Alice was happy that Johnathan wanted her to lay next to him.

She laid down next to him on the bed, resting her head on his chest listening to his heart beat. His heartbeat sounds like music to her hears. She feels the warmth of his skin and the hair on his legs poking her, as she rubs her legs against his.

She sees Johnathan smile as she gets comfortable on the bed.
"Alice if we ever get a chance to have a normal life will you marry me, and never leave me"? Johnathan asks looking at her healthy brown hair as he strokes it as he talks.

Alice looks at him thinking about the way she always wanted to be asked to marry someone. She always imagined a man asking her in the town square on one knee, with a huge diamond ring, in front of everyone she knows. But for some reason Johnathan's way of asking her to marry him was far more romantic than she could have ever dream of.

"Johnathan I would love to marry you and would be honored to be called Mrs. Marshall". Alice says looking in his eyes.

For a brief moment they forget all about their problems, the other students, about everything that's happening. They look at eachother as if for the first time the same way as they did when they were young.

Time, ticks on as Johnathan and Alice lay in bed together watching T.V. it's now 10 P.m. and the sun has already fallen out of the sky, faded out by the moon. The moon now peeks through the oddly shaped windows in the room glaring at Johnathan and Alice.

"Johnathan how do you feel, honestly"? Alice asks looking at his stitches on his head. She's eager to touch it but doesn't, scared that she may cause an infection.

"Honestly, I feel alot better than before. I actually feel just like my old self". Johnathan says smiling at Alice.

The nurse now enters the room with some new bandages for Alice's hands. "Hi, I just came to help you Alice, change those bandages on your hands. We don't need you getting an infection on those burns". The nurse says

"Okay". Alice says as she limps back around to her side of the curtain where the nurse was.

The nurse takes off the bandages slowly, trying not to hurt Alice.
This is the first time Alice has seen her hands since after the explosion. Her hands are fire red and covered in blisters. Not one inch of her skin is unaffected, all covered in blisters.

Pieces of her skin gone, burned off by the explosion. The missing skin on her hands, leave her tissues below exposed. Her hands are a dark red color, with some brown spots, all resembling nothing of how her hands used to look. Once young and scar free, are now covered with imperfections.

Alice thinks about how a wedding ring would look on her hand, how her hands would look to Johnathan.

"Will my hands remain scared, forever once these burns heal"? Alice asks

"No don't worry, its only second degree burns. It will heal fast and scar free. Especially at your age, miss young thing." The nurse says as she bandages her hands.

Once the nurse leave Alice heads back to Johnathan's bed. She turns around the curtain and discovers an empty bed, IV tubes on the ground and Johnathan's cast from his leg laying on the floor all broken up into pieces.

Where did Johnathan go?
