The commotion on the train became louder and louder as each passenger accused each other being the mage in disguise. Kiera could feel the tension inside the train so she swiftly but carefully leaped to the top. Concentrating, she closed her eyes to focus on her sense of hearing.
While Kiera went closer, Kuno stayed in his spot. He knows that he would only get in Kiera's way since he doesn't know how she works on the job, so he would serve as the lookout.
Inside the train, the thieves became more irritated each passing minute. All three of them observed the passengers, trying to find the mage. Someone made Gris, the buff guy, suspicious. Wanting to confirm it, he pointed at a man who was sitting quietly.
"You! You're the one who stopped this train, right? Think you can stop us, punk! You're the mage, aren't you?"
The two other companions of Gris turned to him. "Leave it to Gris to speak his mind," Roy shrugged. Zu just turned away from the scene.
Ellie's dad immediately looked up. "Me? No way... uh, I-I mean, no sir. I am not a mage. I can't cast magic."
Ellie looked up at his father strangely. "Papa, what are you talking about? You can do magic. You always show it me," Ellie smiled brightly.
But the father shook his head. "Not now dear, not now."
Gris grew impatient and yanked the girl's pigtail roughly. "Ya better show us your magic, Pops, or your kitten here is gonna get it."
Tears appeared at the corner of the girl's eyes as she begged to be let go. She tearfully turned to her father and whimpered slightly.
The father quickly scrambled up on his feet. "Alright, alright I'll show you. Just let go of my girl." He bravely said.
Gris gave a sinister grin. "Now you're talking."
All the passengers looked up at the one man that can save them, the one last chance of hope. All of them believed that he could end whatever commotion was happening. They gave him looks that was supposed to encourage the man, but all it did was make him feel guilty.
"I can't do much," he started as he raised his hand. A cap that a passenger was wearing floated shakily in the air then immediately dropped to the ground with a flop.
"I can levitate objects close to me, that's all." Then he sat back down on the ground with his head bowed low.
All hope was lost. Everyone bowed their heads in shame and defeat. The air was clouded with despair. The two other thugs smirked silently, enjoying the hopelessness pasted on the faces of the hostages.
Gris laughed smugly at the scene. "What, you all think that someone will rescue you? Do you know where we are?" With his arms raised, he gestured outside.
"We're in the middle of nowhere!"

Kiera could clearly hear what is going on. She didn't want to attack head on especially after she stopped the whole train from moving. That drained quite a bit of her energy so she was recharging and, waiting for the right moment to dive in and let her presence known.
Partner, I can hear something. It sounds like- Kuno's telepathic message was cut off as Kiera pulled something in her cloak. The tiny round object was flashing and beeping. Kiera casted a spell around her so the people and mages down below wouldn't hear her.
The tiny, ruby-colored object was actually a Communications lacrima every mage has to carry in their pockets when out on a job. Kiera wondered why they were contacting her and pressed the answer button.
