Lucy/Kiera P.O.V.   (Time skip  a year and a half later)

I woke up early in the morning. It is exactly 5 a.m. .I did my morning routine, which includes fixing my bed, making and eating breakfast, morning shower and preparing myself for the day. After doing all these, I walked out to the balcony connected to my room. The wooden flooring creaks under my running shoes. When I reached the edge, I watched the sky filled with patches of red, yellow and blue. Most of the stars are faint, meaning that morning is approaching. I'm used to living alone in this vast, unfamiliar forest, because I think that you should just close up your walls and deal with your pain alone than build bridges and be betrayed again. Because of the loneliness I felt, I forgot how to smile, or laugh and giggle. My face conveys no emotion.

Grasping the oak railing tightly, I heaved myself and jump out of the balcony. The wind scratches my cheek as a descend to the ground. The distance is 15 feet, but I've done this so many times now ever since I built my tiny tree hut. My hut consists of a small bedroom, with only a simple bed, closet, table and chair and a tall lamp inside. There is also a mini kitchen with a simple stove, counter, a table and chair, a small couch, table and a small washroom. There is also another small washroom outside. I don't need to bathe in a bath tub, since I swim in the lake close by my hut. I opened my cloaked a bit, slowing down my fall. Landing with a loud thud, I stood up and dusted my clothes.

Everyday, after my routine, I train physically and in magic. Today, I'm wearing a white, v-neck shirt underneath my gray hoodie with black outline, black jogging pants and some running shoes, my usual training outfit. I removed my cloak and put it to the side. Before I started my training, I whistled loud and clear in the air. Silence filled the air as I closed my eyes and listened carefully in the surroundings. A few moments later, faint footsteps can be heard. A twig snapped, but that didn't break my concentration. The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and then something tackled me to the ground. It licked my right cheek, tickling me a bit.

Opening my eyes, I saw a blur of gray mess, and two white paws in between my head. Looking at the creature's eyes, I drowned myself the blueness of it. It is like water and ice combined together, so calm and cool. The creature backed away so I can stand up, but instead I just kneeled to it's level and hugged it's neck. Standing up, I dusted my clothes once again and quietly said "Kuno, how're you doing buddy?". He responded by nodding it's head. Kuno is a wolf, but not just an ordinary one. He is actually a Grey wolf: a breed of wolves that can understand human emotions and the human language. They can also speak to us humans telepathically if we get emotionally close to one. Kuno has a gray coat with white paws. His tail is gray but the edge and tip of it is snowy white. And he's eyes are icy blue.

I found Kuno when I first came to this forest. After I left the guild, I was looking for a place to stay when I came across this village. It is separate and serene, small and almost unknown, so I decided to stay here, in the village of Furui. I was planning on training to get stronger and learn how to defend myself, so I thought that the forest is the best place where I can stay so it will be a bit secluded and private. Walking towards it, someone said "Stop!", and I immediately halted. The person who commanded me to stop jogged to where I am so he could see my face. Nice try, but unfortunately, you can't see me under my black cloak I thought, glad that I wore my cloak today. "Miss, are you going to this forest? " he asked, like a security guard. Judging by the mature look in his eyes, he seems to be about 40 years old. Taking my silence as a yes, he continued, "Just be careful. A great creature is guarding the forest. Many of our loggers and hunters went into the woods and never came back. That creature is a monster for attacking our villagers. It doesn't like intruders carelessly wandering in it's territory so I suggest you just stay inside the village, where it is safe." Not bothering to heed the old man's warning, I continued walking towards the woods. The thick grove of trees is giving of a mysterious aura, but that didn't stop me from walking. After continiously walking for an hour, I felt a cool breeze to my right. I headed to the source of the breeze and saw a clearing. Running towards it, I saw a small lake, sparkling under the setting sun. Dipping a finger, the temperature of the water is a bit cold, since it is nearly winter time.

When I stood back up to look for a good place to camp for the night, I felt someone's eyes observing me. Turning back slowly, I felt its presence back up a bit. I searched for the piercing gaze of my enemy and saw a pair of glowing blue eyes, standing out in the grove of trees. Is this the 'great creature' he is talking about. It is anything but a tremendous monster I thought, and felt it's strong magical aura. Is this a magical creature? Amazing. I held out my palm, asking for the creature to come out, but it didn't move a muscle. It stayed planted on the ground, watching me and I just patiently held my hand out, trying to reach for the creature. After a long time, the creature took a step, and slowly, cautiously, made its way to me. That's when I noticed that it is a wolf, with blue eyes and gray fur. Maybe it thinks that I'm gonna attack him. . . but I won't. You don't have to be afraid, for I won't hurt you, I thought, and placed a soft, small smile. You can trust me. . . unlike them. At that thought, the faint smile on my lips disappeared, and I suddenly felt overwhelming pain and sadness. At that point, a tear slid down my pale face as I tried to push away all the sad memories. I didn't notice the wolf walk towards me. He nuzzled his nose in my palm, whimpering as if to say You're not alone, I'm here. Everything will be alright. I looked at the wolf and gave a small, sincere smile. He licked my palm in a gentle manner. The wolf understood my sorrow, it feels my pain. Maybe he felt pain and sorrow too. From there on, I called it Kuno, and he was with me ever since. He still guard the forest but accompanies me when I train, hunt and sleep. He is my only friend, along with my spirits. Yes, the one and only.
