His tense shoulders turn to me and he looks down at me "yes?" He asks
Maybe he doesn't remember me?
"It's me Adeline Taylor, you probably don't remember me, you were called to my house when I...went missing" I laugh at the last part, I'm shoved a little as two men walk behind me, trying to get by. I frown and move forwards so the large men don't run me over.
He nods stiffly and watches behind me "oh right" he says curtly "how are you?" He asks
I smile wearily knowing I can't tell him that my life is pretty much as messed up as it could be right now "alright" I decide to put it at
He frowns like he was expecting something else "and your husband-?" He trails off
I feel my heart jump, I want so badly to tell him what Theo is doing. I what him to know about the drugs, how Theo's stuffing them in his computers and selling them to drug lords all around the world, how he's threatening to put the blame on my Father if I tell a soul...but I can't "better...we're in an agreement" I tell him
He looks at me suspiciously with his but nods "that's good" he says
"So..." I say after a pause "what are you doing here?" I ask seeing he has no buggy or basket to carry or push around
"Oh uh..." He looks around with his pale green eyes "grabbing a couple small things" he says and I raise an eyebrow but nod anyways
"Well I should get going" I say with a small smile and wave, he nods back but looks like he wants to say something else, I turn away "wait!" He calls out
I turn to see him looking around, like he wants to make sure no one heard him. I raise and eyebrow but step back over to him "yes?" I ask
He looks behind me but when I go to see what he's looking at he grabs my arm and pulls me into the next isle over, I gasp and pull my arm out of his grasp "what-?!"
He shakes his head "if you need help, don't hesitate to call me" he insists handing me a slip of paper just as he did before, the first time we met
"Ok..." I trail off taking the slip of paper and shoving it in my pocket "are you ok?" I ask
He nods "I'm sorry I just now remembered how your parents and Husband treated you so I just thought if you wanted help..." He says
"No I'm fine" I insist "I'll see you around" I wave
I can't get a cop involved
I push my buggy into one of the check out lines feeling uneasy still, the feeling of someone still watching me prickles my skin as I look around, officer Bailey out of sight.
I check out and drive back to his place, the whole time thinking about officer Bailey. Before I can over analyse it, because honestly it was probably nothing, I feel my phone vibrate and quickly search for it.
It's a text from Vincent and also Cara, I read Cara's first. She was just asking when we could get together again, I had lunch with her a week ago, I was so tempted to tell her everything, to spill my heart and soul out to her and explain everything that's going on. But she's just so content, she was telling me how her and Mr.Johnson are really trying hard for a baby and she thinks it'll be any day now. I envy her happiness but I'm still so happy for her, she's so untroubled and jolly I couldn't burden her with everything that's happened...plus the fact I'd be jeopardising Theo finding out, I'm already pushing it enough with telling and seeing Vincent.
