"Great, I know this place just a block down the road" he says smiling at me
"Ok" I say "lead the way" I gesture to the on going traffic, still debating if this is a good idea or not
He nods and reaches for my hand but pulls back. His eyes meet mine but he shakes his head and looks away, starting to walk down the sidewalk. I follow him having a hard time keeping up with his lengthy steps.
I laugh "wait up" I say hurrying
He looks back and smirks "sorry" he slows down and I walk beside him "better?" He asks looking down at me
I nod "better" we walk side by side down the crowded sidewalk "sorry about making you loose your lunch date" I apologise looking down at my feet
He chuckles "don't be it's fine, I made better plans anyways" he smirks
"Is she your friend?" I ask being noisier than I would like to admit
"Sometimes" he says simply shrugging
I want to ask more but I choose to stay quiet, not wanting to dig into his business...because it's none of mine.
We walk a little while longer until we end up around the corner from the busy street. Over here is less crowded, everyone has enough room to walk on the street without being shoved or elbowed. It's quieter too, not many cars or buses passing on the road.
I look up at the small coffee shop, it's hardly as big as a shoe box "you've been here?" I ask surprised that such a rich busy man has been to such a quant shop
"Yeah I come here sometimes to get out...gets quiet in my apartment" he says taking a quick look over at me
I nod "sometimes I wish it was silent in my house" I whisper
He looks down at me but doesn't say anything, he reaches out for the door and opens it. A small bell sounds and peoples eyes shift to us, I walk in and Vincent follows. The warm air is nice and it smells of sweet expresso and coffee beans. I smile and scan the area everyone's still looking at us but I can't tell why. I look up to Vincent who has made his way beside me, he looks over the cafe warmly and I smile up at him, how can such a busy, high class and handsome player look so carefree...I wonder what makes him so calm when he has to live in the crazy and involved world that we do. But I can tell there something behind those warm brown eyes...something sad.
"Shall we?" He motions towards the counter and I nod
I walk up to the barista and smile at the girl, she couldn't be more than twenty, her short black hair is pulled back in a small bun "good afternoon, what can I get you?" she asks keeping her head positioned down at the computer
"Um..." I look up at the menu positioned on the wall above everyone "caramel macchiato" I tell her in a rush, she nods and types it in
I reach in my purse holding my wallet and opening it, I hear Vincent chuckle behind me and I look over at him confused "I'll have a coffee, black" he says and whips out his credit card before I can blink
She takes his card looking over his beautiful face and slowly scans it. His hand rests on the small of my back and pushes me down the line to the counter where our drinks come out
