Chapter 38

I keep my eyes closed, the knowledge of the gun right next to me makes me hold my breath in pure fear. My hands sweat and and my eyes are screwed shut but a red light makes me open them, I blink to see a dot move from me and land on Theo. When I look up at him he doesn't seem to notice and I look back at it, tilting my head. Everything that comes next moves in slowly motion.

"No!" I hear Ramsey yell and pushes past my father and over to us

He opens his arms and tackles Theo just as a loud sound exploded through the room and rings in my ears. The sound of shattering glass from the small window mixes with a high pitch swirling ringing and I blink slowly shaking my head as I shrink away in my chair and try to register what just happened.

I look down at Theo and Ramsey on the ground, gasping for air. Ramseys' laid on top of Theo, practically covering him, he looks slack and when I look down his body, blood coats his side and I see a small hole on the upper side of his side, near his armpit. Blood pools over Theo and the ground. When I look back at his face his eyes are wide open and glazed over.

He's dead

I scream and Theo pushes him off himself "shit" I hear Tommy says just as a loud crashing sound comes from the door

Next think I know men with guns pour into the room. Each are wearing helmets and vests with yellow lettering, I continue to scream and so does my mother.

"Hands up now!" They all yell harshly in unison holding their large guns up on their shoulders, aimed at us

I place my hands up and look at Theo who's eyes are wide and his body is petrified as he stands beside me "you little bitch! What did you do!" He yells as two men come over an push him down forcefully to the ground, slamming his face hard against the ridged splintered wood of the floor and aiming there guns at him, yelling things

My brain's mush as I look around, my head spinning and eyes fuzzy as I try to catch up. Men push down Tommy and he yells random things, his golden tooth shining off the light as he growls. Rico is on the ground and being handcuffed. My eyes travel to Vincent and he looks just as confused as me.

Someone unties him and he immediately goes over to Marie and unties her, hugging her and as two paramedics walk in the door he sends her off to them, she looks around frantically but he calms her down enough to go with them, all voices are muffled. Vincent unties Annie and she wraps her arms around him, automatically hugging him and finally breaking into the sobs I know she was holding back.

My mother and father get untied and walk over to me. So much chaos is going around I don't know where to look. Two men drag out Theo as he walks out with tense shoulder and a face that could kill with a single look. Rico and Tommy are dragged out as well and other people walk in, mostly paramedics. They walk over to Annie and sit her down as they look at her face. My breath comes out in slow heavy pants and my heart pounds.

My mother hugs me and I groan in pain and fear "shh it's ok" she says

Three people walk over to Ramseys' body and scoops him into a black bag, I look away and burry my head in her shoulder. My body continues to shake as the adrenaline still rushes through my veins. I try to calm my breathing but my minds racing so fast my brain forces my lungs to suck in and exhale to quickly, causing my vision to blacken.

My mom pulls back and steps sideways allowing me to see around me. My eyes lock with Vincent and with some hidden power in me I stand on shaky legs. My mother helps hold me a little, Vincent stand there and I cry as I walk over to him. I jump in his arms and he wraps me strongly to his chest. I cry into his shoulder, still trying to get over the fact of what just happened...I was almost dead three minutes ago.
